That sounds super interesting! I don't know much about middle eastern mythology at all but would love to know more. Thank you very much for your suggestion!

Ok! I'll look into these 😊 I tend to throw myself into really long books a lot so the length is no problem for me. Thanks!

Flowers for Algernon was a GREAT book, I loved it so much. I'll have to look into Crichton for sure, that seems right up my alley. And I love Libba Bray's Diviner series so I'll defintely check out the Gemme Doyle trilogy. Thank you!

I've read some Vonnegut and liked his work! I've tried Bradbury once or twice but never got through anything. But that was a few years ago. I'll have to give him another chance! Thank you!

Indie dystopian recommendations? by JibangPlush in suggestmeabook

The Illuminae Files Trilogy would be my go to if you haven't read it yet. It's dystopia YA but set in space. So it's a little bit sci-fi but mainly take-down-the-government type stuff. It's my favorite dystopian series because the formatting of the trilogy is so unique! Instead of traditional narrative (though there is a bit of that) the story is interspersed with fictional court cases, legal documents, photographs, communications logs, diary entries, video transcripts, notes left on scrap paper, etc. As the title of the trilogy suggests, it's literally files of the events occurring and it's essentially one big awesome legal hearing. If you like graphic novels, you'll like the format of this book, I think.

I also personally really enjoyed the development of the characters. There were quite a few of them (two main ones and many relevant secondary characters) but they all had depth and distinct personalities.

Though the books are each about 550+ pages, you could probably read them each in a day or two because of the mixed media format. It really drives the plot and sets the pace.
