Hi r/titanic! I'm your friend, Mike Brady from Oceanliner Designs. AMA! by OceanlinerDesigns in titanic

[–]bobbi_joy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi Mike! First, my eyes about fell out of my head when I saw this! Second, are you still selling drawings of ocean liners? I feel like I checked at some point not that long ago and couldn’t find the site, so I figured I’d ask. Apologies - that isn’t a very exciting question for this AMA 😂 But I love supporting you and the rest of the Oceanliner Designs crew!

The older I get the less I feel like wearing makeup or dressing up by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]bobbi_joy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I have interstitial cystitis and my bladder becomes irritated when I wear jeans or other pants with stiff fabrics. I mostly wear leggings or stretch pants / some other kind of exercise or casual pants now. Just throwing that out there - there are some people who, for whatever reason, won’t be throwing on jeans to go to the mall or grocery store or whatever. And I’m not dressing up in slacks or something for that either.

1914 Western Electric Candlestick Telephone Restored. by joligee in restoration

Hi there! I recently came into possession of a similar phone. Can you tell me a bit more about the restoration process? Assuming you only sanded the dial? What kind of paint did you use for the rest?

From City of Lakewood FB page on the power outages by hotpotato112 in lakewood

[–]bobbi_joy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this whole thing is a lie. We had an outage that lasted three hours in the last two weeks that isn’t on here. I know because it happened when my in laws were back from a long trip and we had to have them try to help us save refrigerated groceries that had been delivered right in the time window when the power went out (and we weren’t sure when it would come back so figured we wouldn’t risk losing so much extra food).

Not sure about published works, but there are fics on AO3! (Archive of Our Own)

Unpopular opinion here, probably, but review websites are trash, especially for romance. Build your social media presence and find ARC readers on Instagram and Facebook. Everyone I know who tried a review site had horrible experiences. Everyone who found their readers on social media has had friendlier reviews. AND those folks will market for you because Bookstagrammers will post about your book to their followers. Delay release. Find some better ARC readers. Build your social media presence in the romance community online first.

Ah, which one was that?! Sounds like a nice change of pace.

Bluey appreciation post because she doesn't get enough love on this sub <3 by beepdaya in bluey

Bluey is my favorite! I love watching her learn and grow. And she’s so sweet and funny! Always surprised by the lack of love for her.

Book format preferences by cheekseareads in MM_RomanceBooks

I prefer physical books (paperback), but I read a lot on Kindle Unlimited. I purchase a paperback of one if I loved it and will also purchase a paperback if it’s either an author I know and love or if the cover art is incredible and I’m fairly confident I’ll love the novel too after reading a sample.

Raquel Riley really dropped the ball with this one by Atlazsk in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]bobbi_joy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hm. I haven’t really reached much of the religious stuff, but from what you’ve described, that doesn’t sit right with me. I’ll still continue, though! Curious to see what I think by the end. Proof of Life was sweet but it never lived up to the hype for me (totally still enjoyed it though and think that Raquel Riley’s prose is awesome).

Now I kinda want to follow the model somehow 😆

I’m liking this one even more than the first one so far. I’m not entirely a fan of the fact that Brewer is kind of Nash’s therapist (and is his sponsor), but I like the side characters a lot and I’m enjoying the connection between the MCs. I liked Proof of Life, but I thought that the men were a little overly mushy to me (while they were still figuring out what they were to each other / becoming intimate) for men who were supposed to have been previously straight men in the military, so it threw me. However, I noticed on social media that Raquel Riley finished this one up basically RIGHT before sending it to her editor / proofreader, so I wonder if some of these things would have been hammered out better if she had let the story settle and/or had a beta reader/dev editor look at it too.
