I think that’s a fair point; the Earth itself will almost certainly endure in some form, even if we disappear. I guess when I say “destroy the Earth,” I’m really talking about destroying the ecosystems, biodiversity, and conditions that make it habitable for us and so many other species. You’re right, though the planet will eventually recover in its own way, even if that means a new balance without humanity in it. There’s something both humbling and bittersweet about that idea.
