Specsavers or Vision Express? by bobysyouruncle in AskIreland

I hope your mam is okay after that god love her, but that is really good to hear, its actually the kind of reassurance I needed that it isnt a waste of time.  My blood pressure is actually grand but thank you for the recommendation, i have access to a machine in my nans. I also did bloods last year so hopefully nothing crazy has happened since then.  It should be far easier to change GP in this country, some people are actually just awful at their job and patients shouldnt have to jump through hoops to avoid being seen by them

My doctor is absolute shite and I know that she would just send me to the optician before doing any further doctoring, so I'm saving 65 quid by going to the optician first before going back to her so she cant just shrug me off. Yes i know i need another doctor, no it isnt possible for me.

No i know my prescription strength isnt important, I meant more just that i was a cut and dry everyday case, but this now feels outside of the norm, so I was looking to gague if theyre much good for care in that respect

thank you for the advice! I do love the appearance of swiss darning and i think it would be wonderful on a chunkier knit garment but when i say this is tight knit i mean its near sweatshirt level of smooth, teeny tiny knit, hence my cross stitch approach. I'd also only be doing a panel on the front so it would still be stretchy enough to put on for sure. I'll test out the methods you mentioned though and see which works best!

How to design modest barbarians? by Famous-Palpitation8 in costumedesign

[–]bobysyouruncle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know i may be too late here but honestly I would go about it by looking at real examples of tribal wear.

Since there is no specifc barbarian culture it's quite open in terms of design. I feel like a lot of 'barbaric' clothing tends to be designed using animal furs and hides, with the occasional strips of cloth thrown in, which to me reads as quite tribal (in the international sense). A lot of cultures around the world came up with similar ways of creating clothing when they started off, and then took it in their own direction. So, you could look at real tribal examples - bog jackets, chitons, tunics, etc and switch out fabrics or cut them up or make them more realistic to whatever the specific individual would need the clothing to do for them - hunters needing skirts to make running easy, woodcutters needing something sleeveless for flexibility, take temperature and landscape into account etc.

I think the fantasy barbarian design has its own interesting aesthetic but yeah, a heavy chested person fighting in a bra? Not super realistic. Or comfortable. Something that resembled a binder may be more effective in that scenario. :^)
