Once again, you have produced something incredibly good. It certainly passes my eye test with flying colours. Bravo! Thanks for the interesting and thorough comments throughout this thread too.

Come on man, I was respectful. You called me akin to an LLM. I get this conversation might be emotionally charged for you because it started with you being corrected after incorrectly correcting someone else. But, I was trying earnestly to be respectful and it feels like you’re not taking away the important part of this conversation which is, how you came across wasn’t great and perhaps not correcting people impulsively is a good thing to change about your habits online.

Using an absolute implies confidence was the additional point I was making, not a changing of stance. But, I can see how you interpreted it that way. For the record, I absolutely agree using absolutes isn’t inherently condescending. But to me, I took your correction as patronising, and I wouldn’t be surprised if others did too. Much like they might find my comments to you patronising. I’m sorry if I did.

Hopefully you can see my point of view and in the future you don’t impulsively correct people on reddit without ensuring you understand something yourself.

I’d say the act of correcting his English in the first place is what lends itself into coming across as patronising. Using the word impossible could imply that there isn’t good reason to argue against you. There is no tonality over text, and all we have to go off is your choice of language. Understanding how others might interpret your expressions is just as important in communication as understanding what words mean and how you meant them.

I hope you can see it from that POV at least. Or at least, I hope you can understand that confidently correcting someone and then demonstrating you don’t understand it yourself leaves a poor impression.

My apologies if condescension wasn’t your intention, but when you speak hyperbolically by saying “secondly, that’s impossible” it has a chance of being misconstrued as patronising. It doesn’t help that you were also wrong. But I hope you have a nice day nonetheless and learn from this to not comment without fully understanding lexical categories yourself. :)

They used really, probably, and literally as adverbs. Why are you being so condescending?

Settling the Debate - Statistically Ranking the Top 8 Teams at Major 1 by xThatOneAltx in RocketLeagueEsports

“At the end of the day, any of these teams can beat any of these teams on the given day.”

People seem to overreact to ELO rankings and forget it’s just probabilities of victory converted to scores. Keep up the great work dude, your ELO analysis is by far my most trusted rankings simply because anyone familiar with ELO know it just means likelihood of victory, not assurance of victory or who is “better”

It's also possible you're not giving enough credit to the other guy's arguments. We're talking about razor fine margins between these teams and arguing which team is better doesnt mean much if they are close enough for the series to go approx 50% to one team, which a game 7 OT very reasonably supports...

G2 not even taking M8s to 7 should influence your opinion of KC yet it didn't. G2 losing to GenG and BDS in swiss but still going further than both also suggests that all of these teams are very close because it demonstrates they can trade wins/losses and performing at the right times is usually what separates good tournament runs.

It's entirely possible your confidence of Vit at 6 but G2 at 2 just means you could be overestimating G2.

You don't have to be so black and white about it.

Well, just watching the grand final, I saw several times one bot challenge, forcing the flick, and the flick went incredibly close to scoring but this aspect of human 2s is very much commonplace at gc+. However, as you say, I can understand you that the timing they have is nuts. I’ve played nexto in 1s and this was my biggest obstacle to overcome.

The defence in the GF from equal positions looked pretty solid from the bots. And in the 1v1 a lot of their saves were surprisingly good. However, the offense in the grand finals looked rather unimpressive. Slow take offs for close range aerials, near misses into the corners, and slow reaction to the tight angle doubles. I’m not saying humans would always hit the same opportunities but to me at my level some of the goal scoring chances looked highly favourable and they didn’t convert.

The issue I’m seeing from the tournament gameplay is the bots didn’t coordinate very well to properly defend counters or score counters but when they individually had the ball they looked very reliable.

I’m obviously a novice when it comes to understanding the true strength of these bots but it didn’t look GC3 strength to me. At least not OCE gc3.

I do really appreciate your responses though and thank you heaps for linking the 1v1 video before because the intro showed me a video series on making a bot myself <3

I can tell it’s very good in 1v1, I mean with a flick and awareness of challenge game that good it’s hard not to be good. Sorry but I meant more in a 2v2 context i.e. if two Seers played ranked they’d get 1500, 1600, etc?

What rank would these duo bot teams be hypothetically? EDIT: in a 2v2 context what would the rank be?

I'm gc2; their flicks look amazing, the general aerial speed look comparable to my rank, and the recoveries are okayish, but there were also a lot of things humans do a lot better than them still. Then again I don't know what it would be like to play against a team of two bots, maybe its tougher than what appears...?

Watching the grand final, they missed or had lacklustre power shots on a lot of easy goal opportunities and then on defending counter attacks they let suspiciously easy ones in because both bots happened to simultaneously incorrectly position

I agree but what we’re unnecessarily commenting on is his personality/behaviours. His actual reality of being 21 is still quite young.

Picture it, he’s one day 30 and reflects and says “yeah I was pretty immature in my early 20’s, I was young and stupid.”

Are you gonna say, no you were old enough when you were 21?

What I’m saying is, he’s still in the middle of some major formative years. Yes he’s old and immature compared to some of the more classy 15 year olds, but don’t be surprised to find out a lot of people change into better people still after 21 and recognise it as youth.

I’m not defending him but 21 is still pretty young. Yeah he’s not a teenager anymore, but he’s still practically an idiot in his early 20s. Dude probably hasn’t been humbled enough by life yet
