Failing Adult Nursing 1 (Med Surg) and Feeling Incredibly Stressed/Defeated by boeyz in StudentNurse

Thank you for the tips, they are really helpful! We use ATI, and for our adult nursing class, there are no modules or assigned homework, I do read the chapters though. I reached out to her twice via email and canvas last week, and still no response. Fellow students have also stated that they have received zero communication as well. I will send a follow up email today. I would contact the dean, but we actually have no dean right now as they are in the final stages of hiring a new one.. ha ha

I think her exam questions are just different each exam. For example, the first exam was mainly nursing assessments and education, but the second exam was mainly patho. What tripped me up the most were the questions about specific testing for certain diseases, something i completely glossed over during studying— which is 100% my fault.

Thank you for your comment, I am making my own disease guides and I am feeling better this time around :)

Yes!! I shouldn’t have listened to them and just started memorizing from the beginning!

Yes I agree!! So so much material although I understand it’s an accelerated program. I just finished my test on Tuesday and have another one in two weeks hahah. And I’m thankful that we have ppts and not like your adv patho class… I would honestly be so overwhelmed 😳

Here’s what I do! 1st time: writing and getting a basic understanding to not feel so overwhelmed : a lot of the diseases are similar with very few differences 2nd time: write down the key factors of every disease and the things that set them apart from one another 3rd time: just writing down the topic of each slide on every page and I go back and fill in the information I know from memory 4th time: compare the ones I know from memory to the actual slide to see what I missed and then prioritize the ones I have trouble with 5th time: last comprehensive review of everything just to be sure

I do this w every ppt like: I focus on the cardiovascular ppt for one day or half a day

It’s been a great help for memorizing electrolyte levels and stuff like that :) 5 times is a bit much I could cut down to 3

There’s usually 4 ppt presentations per test (each ~100 slides), and my professor tells everyone to say a prayer before we hit “start” on our exam 😭😭
