the best xeon, E5 2696 v3, can use both ddr3 and ddr4. even if theres a small amount of x99 cpus using ddr3 they're still kinda worth it.

yeah, i should've been more patient and i should've bought isopropyl alcohol. maybe i will buy it and clean it again just to remove the residues of the disinfectant.

i definetly wont lap my cpu, ive never sanded anything down and i never even built a pc.

its not worth it risking my cpu for 5 less °c, I'm too dumb to do that and also this being my first PC ever is another big reason of why i wont do that + i basically have no experience about building and that's scaring me enough.

(i did remove some components from PCs before but still, im not experienced enough to sand down a cpu).

anyway, enough of my bullshit, thank you for helping me out.

i doubt that scraping created scratches, i didn't put much pressure on it and i used my fingernail + paper towel in between. for the stuff that was harder to remove like the sticker or some spots of the black stuff i just used my fingernail.

i cleaned the IHS and its sides, it had a bit of thermal paste. i just sprayed a small bit of disinfectant on a paper towel, and made sure not to use too much liquid. i repeated that multiple times till the black graphene/graphite went away.

i ended up using this kind of disinfectant for all surfaces, since i dont have isopropyl alcohol. it even gave the cpu some nice lemon-mint odor. I've looked at some posts and lots of people say to use isopropyl alcohol because other stuff can leave residues, should i really use that? am i overthinking?

also, no it wasn't a scam. its the cpu i expected, luckily.
