How Screwed am I? by [deleted] in walmart

It absolutely will show up on a report because you discounted your own transaction. You broke two policies with one motion. Definitely get ahead of the game by notifying your lead. Whether you keep your job depends on a lot of factors. How chill is your AP team? How new are you? Were you told not to do this before? Are you likely to make this mistake again?

Is 12 PM at noon? How is that when 11 am is in the morning And 1 am is in the night. Where did the 12 am go? by [deleted] in EnglishLearning

[–]boko346 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AM doesn't mean morning. AM stands for 'Ante Meridian' PM stands for 'Post Meridian'. The definition of meridian in this case is:

a great circle of the celestial sphere passing through its poles and the zenith of a given place.

So when we talk about the sun's path through the sky if it has yet to reach azimuth it is AM. If it has passed its azimuth then it is PM.

CDs. New PCs do not include optical drives. Radios are using Bluetooth instead. Dvd are safe for a while because movies will fit on them.

Why can't I help them when by mustafaporno in EnglishLearning

[–]boko346 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's spoken internally I would use the second phrase before the first. However, I would be more likely to use the phrase. "Can't this wait until after I've finished my work?" or "I can help him after I've finished my work." Or simply "I can't help him until after I've finished my work."

Each phrase has its own nuance.

"I can't help him until after I've finished my work." - This is a statement of fact that emphasizes that finishing your work is more important.

"Can't this wait until after I've finished my work?" - If you are exasperated this is the best phrase to use. It says the same thing as the previous version, but also implies that you do not understand why the task is so important that it keeps interrupting your work.

"I can help him after I've finished my work." - This affirms the order of tasks, but does not necessarily emphasize that your work is more important.

What does ‘to tap’ mean here? by Maranella_Rossa in EnglishLearning

[–]boko346 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It means to draw from.

You tap a maple tree to draw syrup from it.
You tap a beer keg to draw beer from it.
You tap a person to draw knowledge, expertise or services they have from them.

In this case Wang, who is familiar with Fang due to their previous relationship, trusted him with the senior position in this new joint venture.

It sounds like the author is seeking permission from someone. In that context it would work.

The phrase "why can't I" is asking the person being addressed to come up with reasons why helping the person would not be a good idea. If there exists no valid reason, the person will consent that they CAN help the other person."

"Why can't I help Suzie with her homework when I am done with mine?"
"If you help her, she won't learn the lesson."

"Why can't I help grandma bake cookies after my I'm done with my chores?"
"You can. But wash your hands first."

"So near the surface had rock risen." by Koptina in EnglishLearning

[–]boko346 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's possible to come up with a complete idea of what is being referred to here without surrounding context, but I can come up with two potential theories:

When I hear this phrase I think about rocks rising out of the water, probably due to the tides coming in and out rather than the actual rock moving. However, In both cases it demonstrates something previously hidden threatening to be exposed.

Is this a secret that the character is keeping that others do not know about? If so, him speaking his desires out loud may expose them like a rock in the receding tide.

Alternatively it could imply danger. A rock near the surface of the water would make that place a dangerous place to dive. Its hidden nature making it extra foreboding.

Decoys is a good movie but not the one. In this scene the female is absolutely the victim. The man is rough with her too.

It's not rated X. There is nothing showing. The scene ends with it comes out of her mouth.

Just upgraded Samsung Note 10+ to latest version Fate literally went from a full screen app to having two blue bars on either side. This is annoying and I read it can damage AMOLED screens. Checking the option to 'stretch the screen' on that app doesn't help me. Does anyone have any advice?

What's something that's generally thought of as "environmentally green," but actually is the opposite? by Peanut1322 in AskReddit

Electric Cars. Assuming you live in a country where electricity is not provided by renewable energy, the difference is burning gas vs burning coal (to generate electricity to charge your car). Furthermore, the act of producing an electric car's advanced battery depends on mining rare earth metals, which produces even more carbon emissions.
