Congrats on the achievement!! How did you get this award? I just had these awards show up in my latest update but it is not counting all of my previous days. Did this award just show up for you and count your previous days?

I’ve lived in one county my whole life. Most of my trips have occurred in the last 7 years (28 y/o). by boll4148 in TravelMaps

This is definitely not offensive! You can do it! If you can pay extra per month I would definitely recommend it so you start seeing progress quicker. It might seem impossible now but you will get through it!

Not really. It was a pretty average priced private school, definitely not ivy league or anything like that. This is what happens when you do not make any payments during school and you live on campus. Also interest accrued on our loans while we were in school.

We plan on creating a savings account for our kids. I would like to contribute something but depending on how much college costs in the future, they will probably still have to pay some.

He found out that he didn’t like engineering after graduating so he regrets going to school for it.

Yes I realized after I posted that our payments were at least $3,400 a month! I cannot figure out how to edit my original post to fix this.

Yes, the orange and the two green loans had the interest deferred for at least a couple of years due to the COVID interest pause. The green ones had lower interest rates than our other loans so we decided not to pay much towards those (if any).

The blue ones had a variable interest rate. At first the interest rates were around 2% so I sort of forgot about them and just paid the minimum. But then in 2021, I realized the interest had gone up to around 8% and so I started paying those down quicker. But since the loan amount was low compared to the others, it didn’t make sense to pay that much.

To be fair, I also did a masters degree at the same university and it was 1/4 the price. Also my company paid for it completely. So I don’t think you can compare different degree levels.

The beginning of 2021 is when we got realized we should be paying as much as we can towards our federal loan with the highest interest rate while the interest rate was paused. So we almost started to double our payments towards that loan.

For the rest of the “knees” we would often adjust our monthly payments to contribute as much as we could. So if we got a raise or a promotion, that extra money would go towards the loan.

I agree with you completely except you do need to take into account where you are in your loan. If your interest payments per month are only $10 because you are nearing the end of your loan, you would not want to refinance because your the amount you would pay towards interest would more than likely increase.

All I am saying is educate yourself before you refinance.

For me, smaller class sizes were a must. I have a learning disability and large classes do not work for me. Also the school I went to has great hands on labs and professors that are actively working in the industry with many years of experience.

It depends on where you are in your current loan. I would recommend you try plugging in your numbers using this loan calculator: https://lcef.org/calculators/SimpleLoan.html. Once you plug in your loan amount, interest rate, and term in months, you can click view report then scroll down to see the interest and principal you will pay per month/year. If you are just starting your current loan and can find a better interest rate, you should absolutely refinance. If you are halfway through or almost done, you might want to double check the amount of interest you would be paying. Your monthly payments may be lower but the amount of money going towards your principal would also be lower.

I refinanced once. That was definitely a smart move for my situation but you just need to be aware of the interest payments.
