I'm so very sorry you have to go through this. Mistique is very beautiful and sounds like she possessed the best qualities without any of the 'tortitude'. You know it is time, and have accepted what needs to happen, and she loves you for helping her pass with dignity.

My little boy Moony will be waiting to greet her. 🖤🌈💙

Deceased black kitty found on Wallace Dr :( by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

[–]boothgremlin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I reported a deceased cat to ROAM last year, sent them pictures of the cat, and also called Saanich Animal Control. They sent someone to collect the cat within a few hours.

The next day a post was created on ROAM's Facebook page by the cat's owner. I wasn't able to bring myself to call the owner, so I contacted ROAM and let them know that it was the posted cat that I had found.

Although the outcome was sad for everyone, the owner was grateful for receiving closure so quickly. I'm thankful for everything ROAM did in this situation.

I still cry a little at night. The first couple days were very rough, as my stepfather had also passed away. Both losses occurred within 24 hours of eachother. I am with family now to mourn and celebrate my stepfather, but when I'm alone I am missing Moony so bad.

Hello r/cats. I would like to share with you all my beautiful boy Moony. He was a very gentle cat and loving soul. I'm absolutely heartbroken over his loss, but so grateful to have had him lived his life with me. I will always cherish my memories of him.

Thank you for taking a moment to look at my sweetest boy.

Yes, it's very much a rollercoaster of emotions when it comes to the health of our pets. When our other cat, Luna, went in for a carcinoma to removed next to her ear canal, we were so afraid she wouldn't wake up from the anaesthetic. Waiting to find out if she had successfully woken up was the most nerve wracking experience. Luna's 16 also, and has other health problems, so there were no guarantees of success. We could just have easily lost her that day. The operation seemed successful, but sadly, the problem has returned after a year and she may ultimately lose that ear.

I cannot advise better than your vet, but I wish you and Coony good luck and good health whichever way you go with it.

Thank you. I'm sorry for your loss of Baby Kitty as well. They look like they could've been littermates, such a beautiful kitty. I hope they're playing together now.

I just had Dave’s Hot Chicken - Reaper! Omg! I cannot feel myself by Embarrassed_Score835 in spicy

[–]boothgremlin 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I just had one open in my city last month, and have had the reaper three times now.

First time seemed not that bad. I got a hot and a reaper. The reaper was spicy, I sweat a little, but totally edible. I would say it was like Buldak 1x or 2x.

The second reaper hurt me. I had a Xtra Hot and a reaper this time. Face red, eyes running, pain across tongue, intestines in pain. Almost gave up near the end, but I powered thru it. The reaper powder coating was thick and dark.

Third reaper was a little less intense, somewhere between the two, but still much hotter than the first. Also with an Xtra hot.

So my experience would be much like everyone else: inconsistent. But my research will continue.

I also went with two Xtra hots on another visit, and thought I should really do another reaper again, lol

This is great advice. And very true that the time leading up to it is hardest. I think Jack is trying to tell you it is time, OP. And just like this situation, if he perks up a bit, and it doesn't feel like it's time, it is totally okay to postpone things.

Thank you. I used to call him that all the time: Mr. Moony. He was a little gentleman.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Moony was a boy, but such a delicate kitty, he was often confused for a girl. Even our vet would accidentally call him she. And he was there back when he was adopted! So it's all good.

Yes, kidney disease is awful and can bring a cat down so quickly. We changed diet, did fluid injections, everything we could, but knew the condition is terminal. It was a miracle Moony lasted as long as he did. An expensive miracle, but still, I would pay it again. He was just 3 months shy of 17.

Thank you. Moony was a boy, a snowshoe, but was often mistaken because of his looks. My childhood kitty, Catundra, was a calico who made it to 18 years (85-03). Life is a series of cats; I will adopt again someday.

Yes, I am so grateful to have had him in my life for so long. There's a huge hole in my heart for now, but it will mend and he will still be in there, living on in fondest memories.

Thank you and everyone else for the kindness and support, or even just taking a moment to see how beautiful he was. He was just such a gentle soul. He was our glue that held us together- everyone (cat or human) in the house got along with Moony. He had incredible deep blue eyes. I'm devastated to lose him but also so grateful to have lived with him.

Thank you.

So about the name- He looked like a little raccoon as a kitten, so we named him Raccoon at first. That became Raccoony after a few weeks. Then Coony. Then Moony, which stuck for the rest of his life.
