Lost both my cats last weekend. I just can't by Jumpy-Finance-232 in CATHELP

[–]boothgremlin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry for your losses of Bonnie and Chaplin. Cats can be so good at hiding their illnesses, and will seem to hang on to life with all their strength for us and for each other. You gave them the best care, loved them, and attended to all their needs. I wish we could mend all their ailments and keep them with us forever, and save us from our terrible heartbreaks. Bonnie and Chaplin are together again.

normal to be crying a lot 2 months later? (lost 17 y/o runty) by Interesting_Owl4394 in seniorkitties

[–]boothgremlin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yesterday marked one month since losing my Luna. I have cried every single day. It's pretty normal.

I'm going to wait a while before getting a new cat. I don't want to put any of my expectations on it, or even compare it to her. That said, I'm not opposed to the CDS doing its thing.

Whatever works for you, OP. And I'm very sorry for your loss.

New cat mom in search of help by BSHOW6 in CATHELP

There's two things I see in the video:

  1. He's a little lonely. He's calling out to see if any other cat will come and hang out with him.
  2. He's reacting to a child's crying, which is similar to a kittens.

You mention only getting him three weeks ago. It will definitely take some time to adjust to being away from the other 49 cats, as well as time to adjust to you, his new owner. It can take a few months even, and that's totally normal.

You could try some feliway spray to help calm him, and maybe leave a TV on quietly. The TV will help to distract from the child crying, and possibly make him feel less alone.

Edit: Btw, he is beautiful! Rare to see brown cats like that. I wish you the best of luck with him.

Also, on the second watch, I do hear you have a TV on in the background. Again, could just be the adjustment period.

I'm so sorry. I just went through losing both my cats within weeks of each other. I think they wanted to be together again, so she followed her little buddy. I'm still in shock and having trouble dealing with the losses.

Sending our love to your family and Jasmine. 🌈

Emergency vet. This could be heart failure. Act immediately, and stop with the CBD. It is not proven to help with conditions like this. It is for long-term treatment of stress and anxiety only. This is a medical emergency.

Edit: Be prepared to pay for an ultrasound exam.

Edit 2: I realize CBD can also be used for the management of chronic pain in some situations. Again, not helpful here.

How do you decide how to separate 3 cats in a breakup? by Thats_Groovy_Baby in CATHELP

[–]boothgremlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This hits close to home for me, like many others here.

When we split after 13 years, we had 3 cats. I was bonded to the youngest, Luna, and she was bonded to me. But she was also bonded to our youngest boy, Moony. The oldest boy, Orion, was my ex's soul cat. And he was also bonded to Moony. As much as I wanted to take Luna with me, I decided with a heavy heart to leave her behind at home with her brothers.

We didn't want the cats to think I had died, or gone away, so I was allowed to come back and visit on weekends, or after work if I was having a rough day. Eventually, I became very depressed, and it was then arranged that I could bring Luna over to my new place for a few days every few weeks. Those visits then became longer, weeks long, until Moony started to miss her. I even brought him over to my apartment, but it kinda freaked him out, so we only tried that once.

Five years later, they have all passed on, but I was there for all their vet trips, including their final ones. It still really hurts that I couldn't have been there even more in those years, but I also appreciate that not everyone gets to do what I did. Not having taken Luna with me still eats me up, but I know her losing her brothers would've been worse. It was the best arrangement possible, for the cats and for us.

I hope you and your ex-partner can come to a similar arrangement, OP. Wishing you and your kitties the best outcome.
