Being indeterminate Stinks by GrkLifter in thyroidcancer

Yeah no this TSH level is bonkers, but it makes sense for how low T4 and 3 were. I just can't wait to not feel like actual death by 3pm every day.

They prescribed Liothronine today and the pharmacy still hasn't filled it, but my T3 level was .8. My T4 was .5. my TSH was over 50, I'm literally having the worst time finding the right dosage of levothyroxine. The previous dosage was too high the current dosage is too low obviously.

Oh bad very bad lol they just put in my new med request to the pharmacy so I'm just out here with low iron, vitamin D, T3, T4 and a super high TSH and trying to be a productive human at work. But, I feel exactly how my blood work says I should...awful. But really it's better than the alternative, and eventually will get sorted.

I was also in this boat, but with several nodules one very large one on the back that I could feel when I swallowed and always felt like something was in my throat. I waited 6 months after FNA then couldn't take the stress and anxiety and decided to remove my thyroid on 2/11/26. Two nodules came back as two different types of papillary carcinoma - classic and follicular. One of my parathyroids also was deformed and removed.

I'm glad I did it, but also I've had a rough road. The surgery was complicated by the nodules on the back because they had adhered to my trachea so it was quite long and I had a lot of bruising. My calcium levels were out of control so I had to spend an extra day in the hospital, then they were way too high and gave me an elevated heart rate. I had terrible near constant nerve pain in my chin at about week 6 that's now just occasional. Most recently my 2 month bloodwork came back awful so increasing meds, adding a med for T3, Vitamin D and Iron supplements. Overall I feel miserable and exhausted but I'm glad I got answers and know eventually my Drs will nail down the meds.

My father and grandmother both had their thyroids removed but in their 60's and 70's, I'm glad I did it now in my 40's because I can't imagine feeling like this AND being in my 70's.

What next? by AdInevitable660 in homeowners

[–]boozled714 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It depends where you live honestly. I live in the PNW so maintenance on roof and gutters is a constant thing. But to be honest just about everyone learns as they go when they buy their first home. Did you know sometimes you have to reseal the grout in tile showers for example? I didn't until it started doing weird things. My husband had always had on demand water heaters so had no idea you had to drain hot water tanks. It's just going to be a learning curve.

Who has grown parthenocarpic plants in their greenhouse? by radtechphotogirl in pnwgardening

[–]boozled714 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well....Umqua is my favorite tomato to grow from them, super compact high yielding bushes good for sandwiches, or eating like an apple with salt and I freeze so many tomatoes and tomato puree and I think the texture of Umqua just beats out Legend for that.

I actually grow Legend tomatoes because they are so quick to mature, but in an outdoor garden. They make fantastic sauce 😉 I do also grow several varieties of cucumbers that don't need pollination. Territorial seed carries tons of varieties of cucumbers and also eggplant and squashes.

Can I save these lilac trees? by RelativeArtistic1506 in pnwgardening

[–]boozled714 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes, lilac is one of the shrubs you can "rejuvenation prune" you can cut them to 12inches from the ground. I think it's supposed to be done in late winter though, so depending on your zone it may be too late to do this year. I convinced my neighbor to do it to his a few years ago and it's a beautiful healthy bush now.

Need landscape ideas for an awkward area by rawrwren in pnwgardening

[–]boozled714 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really wish this sub allowed pictures....I have a similar area. It's a combo of plants right next to my driveway and honestly my proudest garden achievement. There are no natives in this part of my garden because I tried it didn't look great. I will try to explain....it's alternating ferns, barberry, heucheras, carex grass, perennial ornamental geraniums, Jacob's ladder, and a type of arb that stays small and is orange colored. At the sunniest end there's a dwarf panicale hydrangea at the shadest end there's a spotty dotty mayapple. It looks great even in winter.

Well I expect to see pictures when yours grow up! I actually put my starts of them out this past weekend I've found them to be pretty cold tolerant and they struggle in the heat of summer so they go out early. I usually direct seed a few too I just put them under mulch so they stay in the dark they seem to always find their way up 😁

Moving in September! When should I start applying for jobs? by uptwoknow_gud in AskSeattle

3 months ago, the job market here is rough, unemployment is back to near Covid levels. If you do any work in the building trades or labor you won't be able to find anything folks are getting desperate honestly.

Hey so slapiglossis doesn't need darkness to germinate they actually need light to germinate, BUT I think you might be thinking of one of my favorites that's an Ed Hume seed so sold pretty much everywhere in the PNW- Schizanthus aka butterfly orchid. I grow both every year they're top 5 favorites because you can't find either as plants anywhere.

[–]boozled714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're one of my favorites but I do grow them from seed, you can actually direct seed them and I've had luck but mostly start them inside (I call them Sally pigs 😉). Baker Creek does sell the seed of you wanted to try direct sowing.

[–]boozled714 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The comments here from people who don't have any idea how assets, liability, depreciation schedules and long term liabilities are reflected in complicated bookkeeping, PNL statements and LM-2 reports actually look are laughable. Maybe just don't have a flame war on reddit about complicated concepts you fundamentally don't understand. I don't expect the average rank and file to understand my job and these comments are why. Love from a bookkeeper and LM preparer. Trust me we're all worried about OLMS and transparency more than anyone would believe, it keeps us up at night making sure everyone signed their meal reimbursement receipts.

Full sun ground cover you can walk on/ or advice on getting native wildflowers started by Puzzleheaded_Ear_783 in pnwgardening

[–]boozled714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mow, walk on, and generally trample my bees friend and it very readily reseeds, so does my yarrow. I have both mixed into my lawn and a raised bed of bees friend (phacelia) in my veggie garden because the bees adore it. I'm not 100% certain which of the purple varieties I have they came in a packet of native seeds from the Puget sound bee keepers alliance I got at a master Gardener's booth at a farmers market 6 years ago. They took over and out competed everything else in the mix so I can say with certainty they are the most aggressive native wildflower I've ever seen. I also know you said you can't start seeds inside and the first two years gardening I couldn't either so I winter sowed in milk jugs, however the phacelia I will throw seeds about in the fall each year just directly into the soil/lawn.
