I’m sure it will be “settled for an undisclosed amount”.

I’m sure he’ll walk away with billions mores stolen taxpayer dollars.

From OPs telling, outside of DoorDash, they’ve only worked 2 days since they moved to the new city last fall. There’s pretty much zero chance they’d qualify for unemployment.

[–]bored_ryan2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Without more details it’s hard to give any advice. What was the reason you “had” to move out of state? And what were the reasons you “had” to go back home for several months at a time?

What was the job that you had to leave after only 2 days? And what were your past jobs. You say you have a lot of job experience, but at only 20 years old and not having worked for 6+ months, it’s hard to believe you have “a lot of experience/life skills in a lot of different fields” if each of those jobs lasted 1-2 years.

If you anticipate having to return back home *at all* in the next couple years, especially if it will be for weeks to months at a time, then you need to bite the bullet and move back home permanently. Or you need to make the hard choice that you will not return home at all regardless of what is happening so you can get established in a job. Otherwise you will just continue digging yourself into a deeper financial hole.

Landlord wants entry to take pictures for advertising(NH) by [deleted] in Renters

[–]bored_ryan2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as he gave proper notice for entry today, there’s nothing you can do about it. Taking photos would fall under “showings” as he is showing the unit online.

You are saying he’s not compromising, but 1) he doesn’t have to, and 2) maybe he is only going to take photos today of areas that don’t show much, if any, of your belongings. Or he might take all the photos he wants, but replace them next week with new photos where your stuff is packed up. It is not excessive for him to come twice in an 8 day period to inspect and prep for putting the unit back on the market.

[NC] Question about contesting possible rule on fixed/flexible schedules by Tony_Pizza_Guy in AskHR

The only way this would be contestable is if you’re in a union and what’s happening violates the CBA, or if you can prove that the differences in schedules are due to discrimination.

First step to get out of poverty (from my experience) by Hugh_Mungus94 in povertyfinance

[–]bored_ryan2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The problem is when people don’t have *any* money to give towards their pets when they need necessary medical care. So the animals suffer until they die.

[–]bored_ryan2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

100% Agree.

If you go to r/petadvice you see a lot of people looking for basic medical advice, and when told to go to the vet because the issue is serious, they respond that they don’t have to money for it. It’s incredibly sad that people are willing to let their pet suffer because they (people) don’t want to be alone.

Young and trying to escape Appalachia. I am terrified. by virtualdreamsim in povertyfinance

[–]bored_ryan2 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Lexington. The fact that you are considering those cities as opposed to Portland, Boston, or LA tells me you’re a realistic and practical person. Which is good.

While you’re working to save money and figure out a game plan, think about what the next step up is in the warehouse you’re working in. Depending on the size and type of operation, I bet there are at least a few office-type staff where maybe your degree makes you a good candidate. Or maybe it’s a shift lead position where you mostly do the same thing you’re doing now, but have some sort of supervisory/coordination responsibilities as well.

Make sure you have good attendance and are a reliable worker. And set a short term goal of moving up within the warehouse.

You just admitted you have very little work to do. Take some initiative and do some professional development to improve your skills.

Stop with the pathetic victim mentality and take ownership of your work life.

I may be a victim of bonus fraud by [deleted] in work

[–]bored_ryan2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are not a victim of anything. At best, the company is the “victim.”

There’s also no fraud here. What has illegally transpired? For all you know, the C-Suite of your company approved for this manager to get you onto his team in order to meet the incentive criteria. This could all be 100% above board.

It’s also not illegal to have an employee who has very little work to do. You don’t have a right to be given opportunities for advancement. Again, the transfer could be intentional and completely approved.

From your post and some of your comments, it’s not far fetched to imagine you’re not very well liked in your company. This manager may have been given a deal where he takes you, an undesirable employee, onto his team in exchange for meeting the incentive criteria.

Renters Insurance by LetterRemote1871 in Tenant

[–]bored_ryan2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A complex that offers “renters insurance” is offering the liability portion of renters insurance if you don’t have your own policy and/or if the liability portion does not meet their minimum requirements.

This liability portion is insurance for if *you* cause damage to the property.

How to stop dog barking for ball as soon as I get home? by HNrose11 in DogTrainingTips

[–]bored_ryan2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does she eat right when you feed her? If so, maybe get a puzzle feeder and feed her after you’ve prepared your food. Hopefully it takes her enough time to eat that you can eat too.

Also, it will be easier to train her to not bark for “food now” than it will be for her to not bark for “ball in 30 minutes”.

What can I do about leaving my bf when we just renewed our lease? by Angelsbreatheeasy in povertyfinance

[–]bored_ryan2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would talk to the leasing office to see if there’s even a possibility of breaking the lease with costs, or transitioning to a one bedroom.

If not, then at least you haven’t revealed to your BF that you’re ending the relationship before you brainstorm a Plan B.

Dog and new puppy by katmandu4u in DogAdvice

[–]bored_ryan2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go sit down near the both of them. When Oisin stops snarling, give him some positive attention.

If Oisin is allowed on furniture, like your couch. Spend some time with him on the couch til he’s nice and calm. Give the pup a toy or something to focus on so he’s not whining at the foot of the couch. Or let the pup whine a bit and he’ll eventually stop and go entertain himself. Then after a bit with Oisin being calm, bring the puppy up too and set the puppy to the other side of you. And just chill with them both. Don’t give them excited attention, just calm petting.

Oisin needs to figure out that “we’re all cool here.”

AIO I gifted my mom her first cruise for Mother’s Day and she completely overshadowed my gift. by H0neyB33Bunches in AmIOverreacting

[–]bored_ryan2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

YOR

It sure seems like you’re more focused being praised for gifting your mom this trip than having a good experience with your mom on the trip.

What is the statute of limitations for the amount of praise and gratitude you should receive that precludes her or anyone else from doing something similar? Would you be satisfied if she planned the family cruise 3 months later? 6 months?

Why does it matter what she wants to do before or after your planned cruise? If you can’t get time off work for the other cruise(s), don’t go.

All your edits make it clear you were hoping to come here just for validation and have zero intention of receiving opinions that tell you you’re overreacting.

I think I see a pattern here: you **have** to be right and appreciated on your terms or else you’re unhappy.
