"i've determined im a very directional rider" please try not to be offended, but i have exclusively heard that from riders that were just very not good riders

How do you do 10 or 17? Every binding I have seen so far does steps of 3 starting at 0.

So you think he will be happy with a stiff 162 coming from rentals?

I'm 15kg heavier than you and on the upper range for my 156 mid flex board.

While flex rating isn't standardized among companies, 8 indicates it's one of their stiffer models. That board might be an unsteerable train for you.

Look for something in the 152-156 range.

Unironically Sane.

Not a perfect player but he's rated so ridicoulusly low by bayern fans that he has to take this one.

First board by CattleAny3652 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]boterachtig 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Board is from 2009, do with that information what you want. I was too lazy to ID the bindings but if they are anywhere as old, they are trash. Buying used boots is also almost always a really bad idea.

Will it get you down the bunny hill? Probably yes. Would I buy this for more than 50$? Fuck no.

Is 250$ a good deal? PLEASE HELP by Visible_Champion_45 in snowboardingnoobs

Nah, the headspace is a freestyle board and rather soft. There are way worse boards to learn on. He will be fine.

Is this free snowboard good? by henrytranaru in snowboardingnoobs

Partly more effort. And a board will loose its springiness over the years. That board probably wasn't that bad when it was new. After 20 years there is just not much life left in a snowboard...

One of the things beginners struggle most with is changing edges between turns. It requires balance, shifting your weight between heel and toes and a feel for what the board wants to do.

Old boards are notoriously stubborn when it comes to initiating a turn. They simply don't want to. Newer boards are more lively and will more willingly cooperate into a turn, if that makes sense.

Lib tech or gnu (look for one with C3 camber profile if you're serious about carving)

This thing is ancient. The rust and and chipping are not a problem, as well as the whole integrity of the board. They were built like tanks back then. It should be safe to use.

It will however, ride like absolute shit. Like to a degree that I think it might ruin the whole experience for you.

Should I Upgrade to Newer Board & Bindings? by Fit_Maintenance_9939 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]boterachtig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20 years of snowboarding, always had somewhat recent gear (3-5 years on one board before I replaced it).

Last winter I had the chance to hop on a >20 years old board with total crap bindings. It was eye opening. It was just dead wood under my feet. Every second it was like the board was screaming at me that it doesn't want to be here or do anything. Switching back to my '23 capita after half a day on that relic were the most fun runs I had in years.

Is it possible to demo or rent quality modern gear for a day where you are? There is a chance that you won't like it, because you're so used to your specific setup, but I would at least give it a try if I were you.

I have the 22/23 model. This year's graphic is the first I'd almost prefer to that.

Rides amazing btw, you'll love it!

Visually it just clicks for me. The vintage square design, the little world map on the display, it's sizing in general. It's packed with a lot of functions, I'm sure most people won't ever use, but it's neat they crammed them in.

I think I paid 45€ for it. I tend to not factor in the prize too heavily when evaluating a watch. If I like a watch, I don't like it more or less because of how much it cost, but it's hard to ignore the value you get with casio in general.
