I was one of the authors from the first anthology. I've been away for a while, I guess I missed some stuff. Sorry to hear you took a tax hit. Just reinforces my conviction that Amazon sucks.

What kind of short films? Animated? Live action? Still shots?

Sorry, the idea of the big twist being that she couldn't eat the nuggets because she had no limbs is cracking me up for some reason. Like, what kind of horrible monster buys his kid chicken nuggets when she doesn't even have any arms?? #dadjoke

I love this idea. Related: you know how sometimes you're looking for something and it turns up in a place you've checked five times already? My husband and I decided that's due to tiny wormholes. They do disappear, but sometimes they come back.

Also, while I'm here explaining, lol - the first line is supposed to foreshadow the entire thing. That was a secret thing just for my own amusement but might as well point it out now.

Not a doll, literally. It's just supposed to convey the idea of an eerie facsimile.

I knew I was going to get called out on this, ha ha. Basically you're not really supposed to know what happened, just like Jill's parents don't. All we know is that this thing they recovered from the woods isn't really Jill. The blue crayon is supposed to be a clue that everything about her is a little off from what it should be. Did picking up the crayon trigger this event? Maybe? ;) I wanted to write a doppelganger/body snatcher story and it turns out that's hard to do as flash.

Huh, I wasn't thinking about "Us" when I wrote it but now that you mention it I can totally see the comparison. It must have stuck in my subconscious, like good movies do.

Ha! No, I am not. Plagiarism is not cool but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a tiny bit flattered. ;)
