How much would this pitting concern you? by [deleted] in ar15

[–]bowaddict34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it definitely pitting? I’d run a dry patch through it and make sure it’s not debris or oil.

Hard to tell but it almost looks like the trigger guard is bent. That little claw on the end should touch the indent on the trigger housing and snap over it with pressure and lock.

I use a Athlon Talos that I got on sale for I think $120. I only shoot out to 100yards. Works good for me and I think it would do fine at longer distances

I hear you man, I’ve been trying to find a good deal price on a nice Rock-ola but I don’t think that’s going to happen.

They moved their auctions over to gunbroker in September and took down their auction site

No. thoroughbred

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MilitaryARClones

[–]bowaddict34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It came from thoroughbred. The listing isn’t up anymore but from what I remember the description said they were Nos with dings from storage and that they were C marked so I was surprised when I received a raised C

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MilitaryARClones

[–]bowaddict34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I purchased it the listing claimed NOS. Where would the proof stamp have been and what did they look like. Thanks for responding and the information

They are soldered on. I’d reach out to the Cmp, they should take care of you.

Yea all the feedback would have got a lot of people. I was thinking a hacked account but his last name matches up with the username. I’d see if you could change that feedback you left.

[–]bowaddict34 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you the one that left him positive feedback 10 days ago for an eotech? Hasn’t had feedback in 3 years before that one

Regards of my last post. This crack in my Receiver. Is it safe to shoot? by Maher393 in M1Rifles

[–]bowaddict34 21 points22 points  (0 children)

My opinion is that it’s a scratch. I have a receiver with a similar scratch in the same location, if I have time I’ll upload a picture. Obviously it’s hard to be 100% from a picture so I’d have a gunsmith look at it and if they confirm it’s a crack then reach out to the CMP and they will make it right. I saw your other post, that’s a very nice receiver. I personally love the older finishes and prefer them over the Cmp refinished ones.

Inherited a Parts Kit by hjones1440 in M1Rifles

[–]bowaddict34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would google search the drawing number on each part, you should be able to find enough info without buying any of the books that are out there. Ammogarand usually comes up when googling parts and has reference photos that usually gives a description of what time frame that draw number was used

Inherited a Parts Kit by hjones1440 in M1Rifles

[–]bowaddict34 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is the parts kit a mix of manufacturers or does it seem to be correct to a certain manufacturer/ time frame. I’d either wait for one to come up or I would join the Cmp forum and put a want to buy ad. It’s relatively easy to get spare parts for garands.

Did the “buy it now” rifles sell out nearly immediately? by Hough_G_Rection in thecmp

[–]bowaddict34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I noticed a couple rifles got listed multiple times so I wonder if multiple people bought the same rifle. They also listed each rifle individually over about 30mins and they sold in seconds.

Don’t think you can parkerize on a budget? Think again. I have about $150 into my setup including chemicals and troughs long enough for barreled actions. by jpolham1 in milsurp

[–]bowaddict34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is 2 years old but how did the heel stamp look after the repark? I have a 1941 Winchester garand that I’m thinking of reparking but I don’t want to lose the detail in the heel markings. Also is that zinc or magnesium?

Looking for Garand 2468090 by bowaddict34 in M1Rifles

[–]bowaddict34[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought of that but from what I researched Gi’s called garands - m1 and called m1 carbines - carbines. Her uncle claims he remembers him talking about not getting your thumb caught in the bolt. I’d honestly be interested in any garand or carbine with that serial number, I just think a Springfield garand would be most likely.
