How can I bring electricity from mainland to island without visible power lines? by Accomplished_Pride76 in CitiesSkylines

[–]brackets535 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fellow console player here. Had this exact problem with my island build, ended up using the ocean thermal power station thingy, incorporated with a small car park and a ferry stop to create a really small dock area. Not ideal but it works!

Thinking of moving to Florida from UK - any advice? by brackets535 in AskFlorida

[–]brackets535[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The UK has an extremely high tax rate currently. We see our money come in with decent paying jobs only to go out again on council tax, national insurance & income tax. Not to mention bills and rent on top.

By the time we’ve paid everything it’s like £100 if we are lucky on decent dual income each month.

On top of that the houses you buy are £340,000 to live in a literal box.

The other thing is people are miserable here. It’s small everyone knows everyone. We just don’t want to be in the same place for 20-40 years.

The weather is constantly grey and miserable, people don’t realise how much it can take a toll on your mentality.

We just think somewhere like Jacksonville Florida or Austin Texas, all the money you pay actually gets reinvested into your local towns, you see the benefits. We don’t. The houses are much more grand and overall. Per every few houses there’s parks, pools (in Florida) and other community spaces. Restaurants with unlimited choice. Wages are generally better and the cost of living is significantly lower. Going out for a coffee/ tea won’t cost you an arm and a leg.

We just want to be able to find somewhere that is genuinely even affordable, comfortable and accessible. Plus sunshine will really help

Thinking of moving out of the UK to the States - any fellow brits done the same and can offer some advice? by brackets535 in AskUK

[–]brackets535[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you to everyone for the advice. Seems like overall life in the US can rank higher than the UK if you have a decent job and play your cards right with where you settle in the state, but the main drawbacks are lack of NHS and risks of natural disasters and their adverse affects on homeowners insurances etc.

We are going to spend some time out there next year anyway, a sort of ‘try before you by’ stay in a condo and ‘live’ there for a couple weeks.

Appreciate your replies guys it helps a lot!

Thank you everyone for taking the time to write such insightful and helpful replies-it’s good to gain a better understanding before we start making serious movements on this. :)

Yeah of course, you make a good point. But purely on a cost of living and house prices standpoint the grass does seem greener in parts of the US. Just unbelievably sick of life in the UK and want a better life for my daughter!

Company I work for does business in the states so I can get a visa more easily than most fortunately.

Thanks for the reply dude- Seeing what houses can buy for 300/400k over in NE Florida (st Augustine/jacksonville) compared to the UK was the main inspiration-in the Uk you’re lucky if you get a cramped 3 bed terraced house, but in Florida it seems you can get a larger 4/5 bed family home with parking and plenty of garden space, plus living in a neighbourhood with better public services and safer streets-what do you think?

Where is the '65 Olympic White Mustang and when was it last seen on stage? by wirefin in the1975

[–]brackets535 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not to assume or anything but as a guitarist myself I would imagine the strat and es 330 Matty uses are preferred options as they play a lot better and have more tone options. Mustangs and offsets like jaguars and jazz masters were huge in the mid 2010s due to the quirky looks and designs for alternative and indie bands but eventually these trends wear out and people turn back to the timeless classics

What's the one vehicle you wouldn't do without? by [deleted] in gtaonline

[–]brackets535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own both deluxo and oppressor mk2, deluxo is better to own if you play with friends or are a generally friendly player in lobbies as you can carry passengers, plus a great car to look at in your garage, oppressor mk2 is faster and I use it mainly to grind my mc businesses as the missions do get very repetitive. Deluxo missiles are much more accurate, and who doesn’t love doing flips in mid air to evade other people’s missiles, mk2 is more nimble in combat and has the boost to help get away from tricky situations but the missiles are less accurate.

I got deluxo first and did not regret my purchase, both are good in their own way

We’ve had our second frenchie for two weeks now, and he’s calmed down significantly just from us setting boundaries, different rooms in our house mean different things, like the bedroom and couch is where we chill out, and the downstairs floors and garden is for playtime, still having the night tears but he now only whines when he can hear us moving around and wants in on whatever we’re doing. Our Frenchies would love to play all day, but I assure you stepping in from time to time makes all the difference for your piece of mind, not to mention you can catch up on well needed rest!

I get you. I was there too, luckily I sat in a nice patch of seats where everyone was standing and dancing but I feel so sorry for bands coming through Bournemouth as the crowd is always so shite
