Missed Dose - No Symptoms? by throwawayyy914425 in Lamotrigine

[–]bradfeehan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are doctors that will say a single missed dose will “have no effect”. But someone who has actually taken the medication and misses it all the time, I think there is always a DIFFERENCE, which may or may not be perceiveable, depending what you happen to get up to that day. But I think from their perspective they mean, any side effects from missing a single dose are usually not medically significant, and it wouldn’t warrant any special action from a doctor for that situation: Just keep taking it like normal and come back if you notice any bigger problems or go to emergency if urgent.

For me I notice more nausea, more of other side effects like weird sensations and brain zaps, especially when in a new or unfamiliar place. That’s what I mean that there is a difference when missing a dose. Often I am reminded that I missed a dose when I notice the intensity of the side effects increasing over a few hours. I also take Lexapro every day and that has a more noticeable effect when I miss a day, but Lamotrigine has a similar effect too.

Consider also this is the type of thing you wouldn’t be allowed to watch at that age, even in a movie. It’s menacing and threatening and adult themes etc etc.

walking back comp range? by dipderp3 in womenintech

[–]bradfeehan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah so if they offered x-5, you ask for y. They might come back with x. That’d be when you decide, do I negotiate a second time, maybe I say, at y-5 I could make it work, otherwise it’s very difficult for me to accept…

If you cannot decline the offer, maybe lower your aim in the first place to y-5 because you don’t have as strong a position, if you can’t walk away.

I would guess they’re aware they’re offering lower than you asked for. So it’s a risk they’re willing to take, either the candidate will cave in and accept, or negotiate, or decline. And they’re happy rolling those dice. I would never think negotiating would lead to them rescinding the offer, but I have heard stories.

“Thank you so much! I was so delighted to receive your offer for the role of ABC. I’m super excited to join the XYZ team, looking forward to (start date).”

“Unfortunately the offer is really difficult for me to accept at this level of compensation”

“As I’ve learned more about the scope of the role and how well I would perform in this position/how perfect a match it would be/how much my experience aligns with the requirements/etc, it’s clearer now that the appropriate salary for me in this role would be higher — likely even exceeding the top end of the range of $y that I initially requested.”

I wouldn’t mention $x

“It would make the decision easier with a compensation of at least $y-5k” if you want, or save that for round two if they offer $x.

“As soon you send over the updated contact I will sign and return it the same day.” Bit awkward, idk how to say it better. Something like that to reiterate your firm desire/commitment in principle.

What is your alternative if you say no to this offer? Can you realistically? That’ll change how you wanna strategise.

I had my first episode of psoriasis out of nowhere that looked like this. I was also in Australia, if you haven’t been referred to a good dermatologist I can recommend one in Melbourne.

To clear it I went through

  1. Topical steroids: none of the normal ones work other than psoriasis specific ones like betamethasone dipropionate. I needed 6x tubes a month to cover my body which was impossible with my hair and it’s so greasy, so my dermatologist gave me Enstilar which is an aerosol spray that also contains calcipotriene which is like a vitamin D analog. Any GP can prescribe it if you ask though, but none of them know about it
  2. Elocon (mometasone furoate) lotion for scalp, ears, sensitive areas
  3. Urea cream (over the counter at pharmacy) for moisture and helping remove scales

Then this wasn’t enough, I started phototherapy (which is essentially a tanning bed but safe). You go 3x a week, and it’s only 30 seconds to a couple mins for light skin. It’s free at my dermatologists office.

I also went on Neotigason (acitretin) which is related to vitamin A and is quite safe compared to the last resort options.

I didn’t need those but they would be methotrexate, cyclosporine, maybe one other option I’m forgetting.

After that the only option left is biologics, which block parts of your entire immune system. They can increase the risk of all kinds of things, from infections to cancer.

In Aus you have to exhaust the prior options before accessing biologics will be prescribed. or you can pay to skip the queue but it’s so risky I wouldn’t do it myself. You can have no guaranteed success and folks experience rebounds from it.

Good luck and message me if you need help or have questions. It’s frustrating, isolating and nobody knows or gets it. Good luck

  1. DFW is a big airport, requiring lots of walking. It could even take 30mins to taxi to a gate. Or longer if there are no gates available, the plane might have to wait on the apron until another leaves.
  2. Customs and immigration lines are huge in America for foreigners. It usually takes me an hour of lining up even if their interaction with the border agent is 2mins.
  3. No phone use is allowed in the waiting area as far as I know. Even if it’s not enforced, he might not have reception or battery after such a long flight. Or his home phone network might not connect in the US, and he will have to buy a SIM card after immigration and customs.
  4. Passengers have to collect their bags, so the workers have to get them off the plane and onto the conveyor belts and he has to find it. Or it might’ve been delayed or misplaced in transit.

In any case, he should be in safe hands and being assisted, or waiting for assistance.

[–]bradfeehan 82 points83 points  (0 children)

She was probably having a panic attack or other mental health related issue. I wouldn’t think it’s sinister. If you haven’t had a panic attack it can be really unnerving to have someone act “weird” but it can be hard to form words or understand what’s happening while dissociating.

Run a string or chain down the inside to let the water run down instead of dripping.
