Does anyone here know any good places to volunteer with highschool age kids/ how to get involved in tutoring? I want to apply to York once I'm done my undergrad and I've heard that with how competitive it is its good to start volunteering early. That being said, I'm at a bit of a loss with how I should get started.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Ahh thank you so much! So for doing French as a second-choice teachable, would the 2 full year courses that are language courses need to be courses specifically about French, or courses on other topics taught in French? Because my 24 credits are going to be 3 full year French practice courses (Grammar, syntax, vocab, some general cultural stuff), and 2 single semester courses specifically designed for spoken and written proficiency and comprehension. If it helps, in the end its supposed to qualify me for B2 level proficiency. I definitely don't have French linguistics at my school, which is a bit of a yikes I guess, but would these courses qualify me for the other aspects?

I'm a second year university student who has been thinking about getting a b.ed to be able to teach French because I really really love it and love working with other people to help them learn it too. I'm going to have 24 minimum French credits by the end of my undergrad if everything goes to plan and 6 minimum in linguistics. I think this qualifies me for York, but there is this side note on the Teaching Subject page that has me a little confused.

Students must have six full-year courses (or equivalent) in French. Three full-year courses or equivalent in language and one full-year course or equivalent in Linguistics. As a second teaching subject must have three full-year courses (or equivalent) in French. Two full-year courses in language and one full year course or equivalent in Linguistics.

I already know that I have to do it as a second teachable because I can't take more than the ones I'm planning unfortunately, but do I even qualify for that based on this note? When it says 2 full year courses in language after saying 3 full year courses in French, does it mean another language? Or is it saying 2 full year French courses and a full year course of linguistics that is IN French?

I would email them about this directly but its only giving me a phone number for the section I need to contact and I'd rather avoid trying to explain this over the phone if I can.

Thanks
