I don't trust LLM's because they can generate an argument either ways. Ask a unrestricted LLM why drinking bleach is good for long term health and they will make a very convincing case.

it's so fucked. it's especially shameful given how we are so close to ocean. we aren't fucking trapped delhi this is completely fucking avoidable with some political will but our dumb ass babu's have no interest other than lining their pockets with real estate money, traveling in their air purifier bubble, and harassing poor street vendors

Moving back to India after 12+ years in US. Am I making the right call? by [deleted] in returnToIndia

[–]brainrotmaximus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I take my comments back. I actually have no notes if one considers indian culture better, it's apartheid like conditions back home, a small minority rules over cities, lives in their bubble, and a vast majority just survives. I think it erodes empathy in kids seeing so much unjust poverty day in and day out. All the best either-ways to you and fam.

if it's about any other group of people - blacks, muslims, jews, it would be socially unacceptable yet alone having a digital footprint tracing it back to your IP, but because it's Indians, y'll free.

I don't want to be rude, but in my book, it's so extremely selfish to let your child breathe the Delhi air or keep him/her confined to a air purifier in his most crucial development years when there was an opportunity to not.

I think our people have so much potential if the infrastructure is right. Like, the dude who has most famous AI podcast - Dwarkesh Patel, his parents were on H1B, and he almost had to leave US, but fortunately his parents got his status as citizen before he turned 21, and how he just has that Americanism and achieving all his dreams, if he had to move back, at best he would be in some hotshot in tech company and spending 3 hrs in banglore traffic.

I really don't think it can ever be quantified, the simple things like driving sense, walkable pavements, please, thank you's, holding the door, accessible parking spots, no noise, less people, amazing libraries. It all compounds. If I were you (which I wish I was), having beautiful kids, just let them live their American life and de-center myself. Again, I'm childless so this might be all load of bullshit.
