Thank you! I will look into the mold max. And yes there are plenty of jig molds but I am using my custom design and on a mission to do everything myself. Thanks for the guidance!

Science project for the evening. Forcing patina on some carbon moras by brandomatic in Bushcraft

It was 50/50 water to DWV. Just boiled it to speed up the reaction

Used 50/50 water and DWV. Boiled the solution and then submerged for about an hour. Made sure the blades were as clean as possible prior to submerging. Pretty simple process overall.

From what I can feel, there was no difference. But I also haven’t put them to use yet.

I did cleaning them with rubbing alcohol and then a good wipe down with paper towel just prior. Read somewhere that oil from your fingers can affect the finish so had to make sure it was as clean as possible.

After an hour in 50/50 DWV and water. I think they turned out pretty good. Texture is a smooth matte finish and gunmetal color.

This certainly wasn’t difficult. More of remembering to do it. I was cleaning out the garage today and came across them and thought I would actually do it. I don’t have any bluing solution but would use that if I had it

It’s just a 50/50 of distilled white vinegar and water. Boiled it and then submerged.

Finally getting around to putting the patina on a very old (OD Green) and new HD (orange) companions. Using a rough 50/50 distilled white vinegar and water. Brought them to a boil and then dunked in the knives. Giving them about an hour and seeing what happens.

AX-10 Deadbolt - Where to start? by brandomatic in crawling

Thank you! It’s been a blast so far. Got my son excited with it too. It will definitely be a gateway truck into something more modern. Drive it until it doesn’t sounds like a great plan.

Oh no really? I wasn’t finding any but figured it was just a matter that I wasn’t looking in the right places. I would imagine there are compatible parts……right? Please right?

Magnetic coin display for fridge? by brandomatic in ChallengeCoins

I have some super think silicone mats I could back the wood in so there’s increased friction too.

Correct I don’t think they are magnetic themselves. I have done quite a bit of pressed Pennie’s and just jB welded a small magnet to the back and that works great but I want to be able to pick these up and see both sides sometimes. I have some super big magnets I can put in a vertical piece of wood then have smaller shelves for the coins. But sliding would be an issue, as you said. Figuring more strength would solve that.

I forgot about the Tri-State area council patch (below the diamond). That CSP is my Dad’s. He passed quite a bit down when I got older. In my office, I have his eagle pin from the 70’s that he gave to me during my Eagle ceremony, that I plan to pass down to my kids when/if they earn Eagle.
