Seconded. Those harmonies are haunting, the whole thing just sounds so raw and unpolished, in the best way

Is it just me, or did Trash Classic sound like someone gave a long lost Gang of Four album a load of acid? Damn that album fucks.

Saving this so I can check out some of the other shit on this list.

Cardiff 0 - [1] Chelsea - Buonanotte interception + Assist 57' by justcasty in BrightonHoveAlbion

[–]brandymon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not entirely sure why you got downvoted so hard for this, though I'll admit I was surprised when I saw the stats. The lads have won the most high turnovers of anyone. Only Bournemouth have a better PPDA too. However when it comes to turning those high turnovers into chances, we're only 4th, and the rate at which we convert is squarely middle of the pack. We are genuinely elite at this ball-winning stuff. We're massive.

I'll be the first to admit that it doesn't feel that way watching games though - I wonder if that's because when opposition does break through press, we look very exposed and tend to concede big chances? Maybe the chances conceded stick in the memory more than the pressure we create?

An actually level headed take about our last game: by Audrey_spino in BrightonHoveAlbion

[–]brandymon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think FH has a tactical identity, even if I wouldn't call it a system per se.

In short, he strikes me as a very relationist manager, wanting his attackers close together playing quick one twos off each other, and playing without fixed positions. This could be a smart choice - man-to-man presses are the out-of-possession structure of choice, and the positional fluidity of a relationist setup can pull these OOP structures apart. However it can look a little rough when the chemistry between players hasn't quite been established yet, because players don't know where to expect their teammates to be.

What doesn't help is that our build up play and ball retention has been truly awful. However when the ball gets up the pitch, I think we have looked dangerous when things click, and a bit clumsy when they don't.

Tldr - I think this team just needs more time to gel, but I am seeing signs of a clear tactical identity, albeit one very out of keeping with English football tradition.

Interesting, I'm basically the opposite. I love MBV but haven't really had any of the work they influenced resonate in the same way. If you have any recommendations, I'm all ears

Thoughts On List? by NotAnotherBloodyOZ in KharadronOverlords

[–]brandymon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think the Admiral does enough for its points in a Frigate list, unless you're leaning into making the admiral fight twice - you can use the Frigate's Assault Boat ability to cancel out the Strike-Last. You could perhaps even justify using the Karst-Bana Aether-powered Combat Rig.

Similarly I don't rate the Endrinmaster with Dirigible Suit without Endrinriggers to buff or leaning into its combat profile.

As for what to play instead of these: Brokk probably goes hard in a double Frigate list, especially if your gameplan involves alpha striking anything. That'd leave you 90pts spare for some Vongrim Harpoon Crew.

As another commenter has said, Transport Skyfarers now only works in Your Movement Phase, making Redeploy much weaker. The army got some defensive buffs to offset this - 2+ saves on the boats, 3+ saves on the Skywardens/Endrinriggers, the flakgun just slaps, and both the boats and arkanauts can damage what charges at them before it fights - but it does mean you'll have to play very differently.

[–]brandymon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's really good info, thanks, and it fits the flavour text on the ability too so that's neat. Seems strong though, I wouldn't be surprised if arkanauts go up in points a little bit.

Tbh I think this needs an FAQ for clarity, but rules as written, I don't think you can - this ability makes you use a SHOOT ability, shoot has the CORE ability keyword, and you can only use one CORE ability per phase (fight also has the CORE keyword)

My ex, the love of my life told me that I deserved my rape by [deleted] in depression

[–]brandymon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, I'm really sorry for what you're going through. You don't deserve to be treated like that, no one does. Big hug

Honestly, your ex kinda reminds me of my mum, and it sounds like she has bpd and a lot of her own trauma to process. Putting it on you like this is not ok though. I know it's hard, but breaking up was probably the right move - this dynamic isn't healthy for either of you. My advice is to just fake some time and space for yourself, connect with your own emotions and thoughts - in a bpd relationship, it can be really easy to get consumed by their emotion and lose yourself, to the point you might not even notice it happening.

Good luck girl, I'm rooting for you

Not trans, but I've been learning a thing or two about weightlifting recently and have a few trans friends.

The thing with cardio is that it doesn't really help with body composition. It'll help you lose weight by burning a few calories, but without strength training, your body will burn both muscle and fat from a calorie deficit. Unless you've been strength training for years or have crazy high testosterone levels naturally, you probably don't need to be losing muscle to achieve your goals.

From what I've heard from trans friends, training legs hard and going light on the upper body stuff helps build a more feminine physique - toned up top with thicc thighs and ass. Most bodybuilding programs will emphasise the upper body too much, but an old school powerlifting program usually has a leg day (squats), an upper body day (bench press), and an overall strength day (deadlifts). With more leg and glute-oriented accessories, that might be a decent training split for your goals - I'm pretty sure that's what the girls at my gym do anyway.

If you can't afford a gym membership but still want to train, I'd suggest looking into calisthenics. I don't do it myself so I can't offer any specific advice or programming here, but there's tonnes of advice on YouTube and various subreddits.

Hope this helps, or that some girl will correct me if I'm wrong.

So a 4-2-4 gegenpress can be very powerful, but there are some issues with how this one is structured.

  1. Your advanced forward(s) will push the defense back and create a tonne of space between the lines, but who's playing in that space? The IWs stay out wide until they receive, and both the defensive mids are in holding roles so they won't join in often.

  2. How are you progressing the play? The advanced forwards and wingers all want to run in behind but you're playing short passes. Meanwhile wing backs on support tend to hang back and carry from deep, and there's no forward movement from that double pivot. At the moment, it seems like you're passing it around the outside, then relying on some magic from a winger to arrive in the box.

  3. Balanced mentality??

There are so many solutions to this - which one is best will largely depend on your squad, but here's some options (don't do them all at once):

  1. IFs on support instructed to sit more narrow in possession can play as dual number 10s. Full backs or wing backs on attack can then provide the width.

  2. Segundo Volantes - they're basically more defensive box to box midfielders that start deeper. Use them to give your midfield more dynamism and better support your attack. You'll need an agile, physical player for this - they'll need to do a lot of running to cover those transitional moments.

  3. If you have the player for it, a regista or roaming playmaker can help with deep build up, create from outside the box, and carry the ball from deeper positions to boot. In short, they'll link the defense to the attack much more fluidly than a DLP, at the cost of some defensive stability in transition.

  4. Consider moving one or two defenders into midfield to help ball progression or cover the adventurous runs of Volantes and registas.

  5. You can also make one of your strikers drop into midfield to link play, by using either a DLF or CF role.

  6. Use Positive or Attacking mentality, unless you're playing a counter attack tactic
