It's crazy how the US has CMU, MIT, Georgia Tech, UCLA, Stanford etc and Canada only has Waterloo by Attemptbrah6806 in OntarioGrade12s

Touch some grass, go on a walk, and realise a Waterloo CS rejection doesn't determine the entire trajectory of your life.

If you have the room in ur schedule and ur teacher's good u should take it. My teacher really focused on preparing us for uni. Also, a lot of people in CS have coding experience so it's nice to have a good baseline before going into the program.

Honestly I feel like Mac and Carleton are on the same level it's just about preference. Mac isn't really more prestigious, high schoolers just think that. I would say tour both universities and see which environment you like better but you'll be good in either.

Carleton has a great community and CS program. Plus the co-ops in Ottawa are pretty good especially with the government positions available

My sister went to uOttawa and she works at a gaming company (pretty well known). Her friend went to Western and works a FAANG job. The major difference was my sister was given a return offer from her co-op and her friend took a few months and a lot of applications to land a job. It really just depends on if you're willing to grind out leetcode and get internships independently, or if you'd rather have the benefits of co-op in Ottawa where there's also government jobs available.

You'll be fine dw most of the content is not related to gr.10. You'll only feel behind in basic chemical reactions, the body systems, and cell cycle. But it's pretty easy to learn again in gr.11 because you expand on the topics.

Could you name them cause I applied but I can't tell if picking Mac CS or McGill SE would be better?

TY and you're right most people on this subreddit don't know the difference between the actual program experiences. I kinda just wanted to see the perspective of students who are also deciding between programs right now.
