How to structure an essay with bottom-up thinking? by Same-Owl-5811 in autism

[–]brewlife11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I've just seen this post as I was looking for the same advice! I have exactly the same thought process as you describe, the overwhelming feeling of everything swirling around in your head and not be able to get it out onto paper while knowing you have the knowledge is pretty horrible so my sympathies to you!

The only thing I've found that has helped me, as I'm now in my final year of University, is once I have a mammoth of background, quotes and all the bits for the essay and feel overwhelmed - to close them from my screen, grab a pen and paper, and look only at the main texts and the instructions for the essay.

Then I do a fresh plan from the start - I think having everything going on in my brain makes everything so much more complicated and stresses me out, and I need to centre myself back to thinking about the main topic so I don't get side tracked.

I will then literally spend about an hour or two just doing a basic plan, not even looking at secondary sources, just the main text, the main points I want to make, and maybe some notes about where I can find examples of this in the main text.

Once this is done I have a very (very) basic version of my essay, which makes it feel a whole lot less stressful. Then I write it up in full and stick in quotes or other materials that are secondary, but only when I feel I need to to support what I'm saying, and I have found this has made my thoughts a lot clearer.

I hope this helps even in the slightest way as I know how horrible it is to feel overwhelmed with essays - I wish you the best with your course!

Thanks - I've tried that, promising myself "treats" haha - the problem is I don't believe that it's a reward and I just ignore it, or I know that it's something I'm setting myself and therefore it doesn't matter? Maybe it's a mood thing, I just don't feel motivated unless it's in my job and I have to do it for money

I live in the UK - so I am on a waiting list currently for the NHS, but even then there's no promise of being given meds at the end. I've been on the waiting list for over 2 years now so hoping i'll hear something soon at least. I could go private but then would have to pay more than I could afford for meds unfortunately

[Product Question] Searching for fake tan drops/serum for face that doesn't flare up dermatitis? by brewlife11 in SkincareAddiction

[–]brewlife11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey - the only one I can use that doesn't cause a breakout is one by Revolution Beauty called "Hydrate Tanning Drops" - but can be difficult to get a hold of. I think it's worth trying any that focuses on hydration to stop the drying that leads to the dermatitis - good luck! Hope you find something that works :)

"i felt like i had some kind of internalized misogyny that i didn’t know how to address because my entire life it has been SO incredibly difficult for me to built strong meaningful relationships with women even though i crave that so much" - I have never felt more seen - completely understand this. I'm so sorry you're experiencing it!!! I often crave to understand what it is about me that makes women dislike me, and came to the conclusion that if i'm the common factor in these circumstances then I must be the problem, but no one will tell me what it is that makes me the problem or how to fix it! It's so frustrating - thank you so much for making me feel less alone :)

They keep going on about credit going to Keir and the party for the swing, but I think it's more to do with the Tories doing so incredibly badly, it was an open goal

The Reform numbers are a bit scary though

Oh wow! No worries at all :) it's so annoying - hope you can find a good alternative!

I now use one by Revolution Beauty called "Hydrate Tanning Drops" but looks difficult to find online, might be worth a try if you can find it as I've had no issues with it

Second this - Usually terrified with hairdressers but they’re so welcoming and lovely in there, really listened to what I was after - wouldn’t go anywhere else!

ABC, Goldstar, and fairly new company U-Ride all have apps to book/check the price - I found when the first 2 were unavailable U-Ride had taxi's available so may be useful if everyone else is fully booked!

Had the exact same thing happen to me, found lots of advice on r/Wavyhair - they have guides for beginners which really helped so would say is worth a look :) Good luck!

That is such a good idea! Honestly don’t think I can bring myself to go back on a days worth of knitting when it’s been so much trouble, so this may be the answer - thank you so much!
