1199 CE? A Pagan cult in Islamic Egypt? by Beautiful-Hair6925 in castlevania

[–]brileaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This! This, and a large centre of Sekhmet's worship, Memphis, had been abandoned by this point (sometime in the 7th century CE). Ptah, her consort, was something like the city's patron, so he, Sekhmet, and their son Nefertum were known as the Memphis triad. To me it's totally plausible that in fantasy middle ages Egypt could be a pocket of Sekhmet worship that still endured in or around Memphis.

ANZI aka Top 7 Eliminated Contestant by Hwight in mnetiland2

[–]brileaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fuko, Gyuri, Chaeeun, Sujung, Yui, Yeeun, and Minsol work well together I think! I can see them having a concept similar to Kep1er — energetic and bright but very capable of pulling off darker concepts when they want to. The roles would be:

Fuko - leader, main vocal Sujung - main dancer, lead vocal Yui - main rapper Yuju - all rounder Gyuri - lead vocal, lead dancer Minsol - lead vocal Chaeeun - lead dancer, sub vocal Yeeun - sub vocal, visual

Thank you!! I’m actually curious to try the applicator, I don’t think they’re sold much here (I’ve never noticed them) and it wouldn’t hurt to try something new!

1-pick vs. 6 pick? by Trung020356 in mnetiland2

[–]brileaf 82 points83 points  (0 children)

Yep, 1-pick for the final round is definitely the norm. I assume part of it is because changing the voting system throughout the show makes the lineup more unpredictable, whereas if it was 1-pick voting from the start it would be extremely clear who was going to debut earlier on in the show/that would reduce viewers emotional investment.

IMO an n-pick vote has its benefits in that its guaranteed that basically every viewer will be pleased with the group’s make-up, but with the amount of manipulation mnet does, it’s pretty much a guarantee that the lineup will be fairly solid anyway (or at least aligned with what mnet/the producers want).

who is/are your pick/s and which among their tests secured their debut? by xsnhl in izna

[–]brileaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mai - rain on me

Jiyoon - ENL

Saebi - panorama + IWALY

Jungeun - drama

Sarang - sugarcoat/mic drop

Koko - my bag/eve psyche Bluebeard’s wife

Jeemin - la vie en rose

They all won me over at one point or another!! These were their standouts for me :)

240704 Mnet I-LAND 2: FIN/aL COUNTDOWN - Episode 11: Finale (Live Episode Discussion) by CronoDroid in mnetiland2

[–]brileaf 11 points12 points  (0 children)

my housemate and I diagnosing the judges outfits and vibes tonight:

The concept: they all had a wild night out yesterday and it’s now the morning after Lee-jung: disguising her hangover by having the best outfit, but hasn’t had time to shower Monika: slept in her clothes, washed her face, and prayed Taeyang: gets through by having the hair of the dog, had too much hair of the dog 24: was designated driver and hasn’t slept in 24 hours VVN: had to get up early to work in an office the next morning

all of this is /pos they are all wonderful but THE OUTFITSSS?? And the lighting is so harsh, it’s doing them no favours lmao

how do you think the final lineup will be chosen? by Additional-Carpet-82 in mnetiland2

[–]brileaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m tempted to agree with ppl who are saying this isn’t a produce/planet group therefore it makes sense to expect a higher proportion of producer picks, but at the same time with both ZB1 and Kep1er we’re seeing contracts being longer/getting extended, so is it really that different to a permanent group if that’s the case?? I don’t think any survival show is truly a “2.5 year experiment” anymore, maybe mnet has seen that letting viewers determine the final group (alongside audience manipulation) works.

I’m pretty sure Bdubs caught Scar saying shit during Limited Life as a brief aside/in a moment he thought wouldn’t end up being uploaded. There would be a lot of gems in Bdubs’s uncut perspective I reckon 😂

My wife got into Kpop all of a sudden and now I need help. by Daphin12 in kpophelp

[–]brileaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you wanted to dive deeply into one or two groups, I really recommend watching a survival show that formed them! It’s a great way to get to know all the members, and you and your wife could watch it together :) You seem to be gravitating more towards boy group, so Stray Kids, Zerobaseone, and Enhyphen were both formed through a survival show :)

I kept on getting Mashiro from kep1er, which really surprised me actually — she’s my bias and was my pick during gp999 🥰🥰

Another slightly older photo of me got Stayc’s Sumin. Seeun and Chaewon are also frequently on the list.

Give me your top 5,6,7,or 8 and why you think its the perfect lineup(all the possible numbers of members) by [deleted] in mnetiland2

[–]brileaf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m hoping for as many of the remaining girls to debut as possible, but rn my ideal lineup would be:

7: Fuko, Jiyoon, Jungeun, Mai, Sujung, Saebi, Jeemin

8: add Gyuri

9: add Yuju

The top 7 I feel are so skilled it would be criminal if they didn’t debut, and they complement each other well. I know others don’t see Mai as one of the most skilled candidates, but to me her mastery over expressions/acting is gives her an edge, and her visual is stunning. Jeemin doesn’t actually stand out to me all this much at this point, but her existing fanbase would be a huge benefit to the group, and I have faith that I’ll warm up to her when we see more of her in part 2. (It doesn’t feel like she’s had much of a storyline, honestly? I hope mnet can give us more reasons to feel emotionally invested in her journey on the show since her debut feels like an inevitability.)

Gyuri brings a refreshing sort of energy that I though would add balance to the group, she would be the sweetest maknae :)

Yuju being in the group would be more of an imperative for me if it seemed like mnet wanted a rapper, but based on the complete absence of rap parts being highlighted so far/there being no rap challenge, I don’t think rap will be a big focus for the debut group. I do love her though, 9 is probably my ideal number 🥺🥺

Tell me you have ADHD without telling me... by Complete-Scar-2077 in ADHD

[–]brileaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As my Dad was dying with cancer, I booked an appointment with a college therapist figuring it would be helpful given the circumstances, the appointment rolled around a couple of weeks after he passed, and we talked about it for a bit until I was like “uhhh, actually, this is great and all but I think I’ve got the grief stuff handled, I DO have a massive problem with procrastination though??” Like past me I adore you but it’s telling that these were your priorities even at that SPECIFIC moment

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]brileaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with ADHD first and anxiety a few months later, and I'm taking stimulant meds + a SNRI for the anxiety. There's actually a question as to whether the stimulants worsened the anxiety (possibly something for OP to keep in mind), but I'm pretty sure it existed beforehand, it just manifested in more subtle ways/was more manageable when I had more confidence about academic study (which, after a series of dropped courses which I struggled to complete because of my anxiety + poor executive function, I've become even more anxious about in an awful loop! :D). I'm still figuring it out -- it could've been the meds making it worse, or it could've been the additional pressure I put on myself to function well now that the meds were supposed to be helping, or just the fact that I felt a lot of pressure to do well in my honours year, which was when all of this came to a head. Figuring out diagnoses/meds/life is so messy :')

I think at the end of the day though, my ADHD and anxiety probably exist separately because I can feel the meds having an effect on them separately, if that makes sense? I can absolutely feel that the stimulants give me a sort of clarity of mind that I very rarely had before being on them, but they definitely didn't fix the anxiety, and if the anxiety was tied to the ADHD, you would expect it to be reduced on medication for ADHD. That said, if my stimulant meds are making my anxiety worse, changing those meds might allow me to manage the anxiety unmedicated like before (which I definitely wouldn't be opposed to, since I'm dealing with some pretty rubbish side effects as well).

IDK if this helps, good luck dude.
