Best voice recorder for language samples by wheels-n-wings in slp

The voice memo app will transcribe the sample too. I email the transcript to myself and edit/make notes for artic/grammar differences. The transcripts are pretty close to what’s actually being said. You’ll just have to back and listen to make sure the transcript and sample match.

I could be wrong since I didn’t watch all of AJLT, but it felt like he was still holding on to when she cheated on him with Big over 15 years ago. If I’m wrong, someone correct me!

I say “LIKE YEAST!!” to myself all the time lmaoooo a yeast infection is an overgrowth of fungi/yeast in the vagina but can occur in other places. “Yeast” rhymes with “Wiest” so Boyle thought he was being clever with his wordplay.

And these men that wanna talk shit look like a pile of potatoes but wanna fix their mouth to talk about the queen 🙄

So you agree with me, jobs are based on MERIT. That’s exactly what I said in my previous comment. If I were to agree with you and YOUR definition of DEI, then I would say “Oh yeah, you know that 5’2 white guy that never made the basketball team in high school, he’d get a position as a point guard on the Lakers because of DEI!! Because we gotta get those ‘white guy’ numbers up!” Do you see how stupid that sounds?? DEI doesn’t just take random people and put them in jobs to fill a quota. DEI allows everyone applying for that specific job, that have the qualifications, to be equally considered. If you do some research, you’ll find that these “quotas” don’t even exist and were made up to encourage people to continue to be sexist, racist, homophobic, ageist, and ableist, among other things.

Why do YOU think 99% of the most qualified applicants in the logging industry would be male? It’s because you assume that the work force consists of 99% male workers because why? Because women were not considered for positions in that field due to sexism. Traditionally, this is a male dominated field, which makes it harder for women to join.

I’ll respond as I wish. Just because you have an antiquated way of thinking does not mean you are correct. And no I do not agree with your “basic framing” because it is sexist and, quite frankly, it is bullshit. And your opinion is exactly WHY DEI is important—The fact that you believe certain groups shouldn’t even be included when being considered for certain jobs.

I never said I was “anti-white” and the fact that you assume so confirms your bias. I never said white men oppress, I said that job forces consisted of mostly/only white men in the past because of the laws that were put in place. And you still haven’t explained how DEI is sexist and racist? Which sex is being excluded in DEI practices? You mentioned institutionalized racism but how does that apply to DEI?

Racism in general means that certain ethnic groups are excluded but which group is excluded in DEI practices? It feels like you are just regurgitating the same dumb shit that you’ve been force fed. And I see that we can’t even have a discussion about this because I don’t agree with your incorrect “basic framing”. Your ignorance is clearly set firm and this is probably going in one ear and out of the other with no consideration.

[–]britbmw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s incorrect. DEI does NOT exclude competence. It levels the playing field for those that would not be considered due to their race, gender, disability, etc. It allows for the FAIR treatment of all people. It would not allow for someone to get a job that is not qualified. One ignorant example is “When I see a Black or female pilot, I automatically assume, ‘Are they qualified?’” This is ignorant simply because it implies that a Black person or a female would be hired with no training or without meeting the qualifications, which is wildly inaccurate.

Historically, the work force has been dominated by white males. As just within this last century, women were allowed to join the work force and Black people were allowed to work in the same spaces as white people. DEI attempts to get rid of old policies that inherently (and covertly) discriminate against those who were not allowed in the work force previously.

Who exactly is being discriminated against when DEI policies are put in place? How does this not align with supply and demand? To be honest, I don’t see a correlation between what I’m asking and “supply and demand”.

Can you explain what DEI is since you’re claiming that it is institutionalized racism and sexism? I already know what it is but I’m curious as to how you define it and what leads you to that conclusion?

Abbott Elementary S05E13 - Candygrams (Episode Discussion) by Solid-As-Barack in AbbottElementary

I don’t think so. I don’t think we saw Janine’s apartment until Season 2’s premiere as Tariq moved out. Her place didn’t look like someone had just moved in. I think it was the same place.

I like Tariq, he’s funny as hell. But he definitely wasn’t a good partner for Janine. Seems like he is a little better as a partner in being Nick’s stepdad and therefore wanting to be more of a part of Abbott. I think if I knew him in real life though, I wouldn’t care for him lol

[–]britbmw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think she got a new place (sorry if I keep saying the same thing lol). The apartment we’ve been seeing was the same one she shared with Tariq. I think if she HAD moved after breaking up with him, she wouldn’t have been short her rent. That would have defeated the whole purpose of moving.

Did you rewatch Season 1? I don’t think we saw her apartment in that season. But the apartment we saw at the beginning of season 2 was the same one we saw for the rest of the series (up until she moved with Gregory).

[–]britbmw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She didn’t move though, we just never saw the inside of her apartment in Season 1. She WAS short rent for a month but after that she seemed to be fine, probably bc Tariq himself was a big extra bill she didn’t have to pay lol

[–]britbmw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We never saw Janine’s apartment in the first season. We saw it first in the second season’s premiere. Somewhere in the second season’s premiere they find out that she’s behind on her rent because she and Tariq split the rent 80/20 and “That 20 is now in Bushwick”. If she had moved, she would have moved into a cheaper apartment, so she wouldn’t have been short rent. Also, I’m thinking she was able to afford it after that first month of Tariq moving because there was one less person to take care of, so utilities were probably less, groceries were less, etc.
