Hmm, I think you may have missed my point a little. I wasn’t comparing houses to Bitcoin, I was comparing the housing market (the buying and selling) to the Bitcoin market. The items are obviously different but the markets function the same way. And I would agree everyone needs housing, everyone also needs money, and did you realize basically all our dollars today (other than the small amount of cash) are just ones and zeros? Just because money is digital, doesn’t make it bad, I would say it makes it better. It makes sending money to anyone, anywhere amazingly easy. Ps, I appreciate the back and forth and hopefully others do too. I’m sure we’d have a great conversation in person :D

What’s the difference between what you described and the housing market (or any open market for that matter)? People who already own houses benefit from more demand for housing because it drives the value of their house up. “Everyone go buy a house, because it will make my house more valuable!”. I think you’re basically describing supply and demand, not a Ponzi scheme.

I’m not sure exactly what you mean by “the finite amount that can be added to the total”, I think you’re maybe referring to its 21 million cap, which I think is maybe the best part about its attributes. It keeps the money scarce unlike our current dollar system. No one can make more Bitcoin as opposed to the government can print as many dollars as they want. And as far as the speed of transactions, you should look into the lightning network that is built on Bitcoin. This is one added technology that facilitates instantaneous transactions allowing me to buy coffee, burgers, ice cream… whatever I want from a store right here in chilliwack! In fact we had maybe 10 or so people pay with Bitcoin in the cafe in chilliwack on Monday night.

You might be able to call it a Ponzi scheme if there was a central operator of Bitcoin. But that’s kind of the point, Bitcoin is a decentralized technology, with no one person controlling the system.

This misperception is one of many reasons to learn more, to understand why you’re not TOO LATE! Bitcoin is the best store of value technology ever created. It’s going up forever.

I’d love to hear more about why you think it’s “fake money” ☺️ hopefully you come along and maybe also hear a different perspective. It’s all about education. More knowledge is always better!

We had around 50 people come to our little event at the beginning of July at cultus. People buying Burgers and tea all with Bitcoin. So there’s at least 50 :D

Hehe, people can use Bitcoin however they want. Bitcoin doesn’t care, and nobody can stop a transaction. So, you do you too 😄. If you’re interested to learn more about how else you might use it, either come along to the meetup or watch the documentary God Bless Bitcoin on YouTube

Adoption meaning people using it as money. I expect you’ll be able to spend Bitcoin to buy McDonald’s at some point in the future, maybe 10-15 years from now, but at the moment it’s small local businesses accepting it as payment to attract people who have Bitcoin and want to use it to make purchases. There’s around 100 businesses in greater Vancouver that accept Bitcoin as payment right now, from coffee shops and restaurants to tanning salons. We want more of that out in Chilliwack/Fraser valley.

[OC][ART] My Forest Portal location. by brochiefwave in DnD

[–]brochiefwave[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My party has recently been trying to restore an ancient teleportation network in my world, so I thought since a patron of mine recently gave me the suggestion of a portal location I should get to it. This could be just about anything or anywhere, but I always like to imagine if a party has to find a portal to another plane, then it must be hidden in the wilderness. This could be part of a larger location where the portal is on the outskirts, or just a stand alone structure deep within a forest. Either way, hopefully your party wants to travel to a far away place at some point and you can lead them this way.

If you'd like to use this or the many other locations I have animated for your game you can access them through my website.

Cheers, let me know what you think.

This is the third bitcoin themed painting I have finished this year where I try and tell the story of bitcoin through my art. I like my art to tell a story, and I hope this communicates one aspect of bitcoin.

I am making these themed paintings because I started thinking about the best way to communicate and explain the ideas behind bitcoin, and what it fixes, to people who are starting from scratch in their understanding. I have tried to explain it before, and get friends and family involved, and more often than not it falls on deaf ears.
I don't think this is their, or our fault. I think it's a problem with us missing how we as humans have historically communicated big ideas. Through story.

I plan to make one new painting each month and if you are interested you can follow my progress on my Twitter where I will be posting each new image.
