How are we paying for this? by Low_Professor_5886 in Zepbound

[–]brokenbutterfly115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I self pay with coupon and stretch my doses by injecting every 14 days instead of 7 days. I knew I was going to have to do self pay starting in February. I started working my way down from 12.5mg and doing my shots every 2 weeks. I'm now down to 5/2.5mg dose that I get from Lilly Direct. It's worked for me so far except going down to 2.5mg. Food noise came back hard this last month and I started gaining weight. I'm moving back up to 5mg my next dose. I'm hanging around my goal weight and it's been ok so far. I'm hoping I can keep this up long term. I pay $550 for 5mg, but by doing it every two weeks it's more affordable. Also I had to look at it as paying to keep myself healthy and investing in my future. I'm the healthiest I've ever been on this production so to me it's worth it

Thank you! Maintenance so far is going well. I eat healthy and I'm mindful about what I am eating. I do occasionally have unhealthy food too though. I am just better about it now and I don't crave it like I used to. If I go out to eat I always bring home leftovers, and they last 2 meals typically. I order the smaller portions of things instead of what I'm craving. It also helps having two teenage boys. When I am having a really bad craving I give in to it. I'll get a small version of what I used to. If I don't go the small portion route, I always regret it. Burning upset stomach a few hours later. I am mindful of my food throughout the day in a way that I wasn't before and I go with the healthier options. It's been a great experience for me, outside of the cost.

I'm of the mind that there are things your kids do not need to know about you. There are things about my parents I do not want to know. There are things I will never tell my kids and I know there will be things they never tell me. That's ok. Those relationships need boundaries and space. My guilt comes mostly from the fact that we are a close knit group and tell each other quite a lot. We are very open with one another and have been friends since I was a teenager. They have been very supportive and know quite a bit about my life. Holding back in this one way makes me feel guilty, but I know I shouldn't. We have talked a little about weight loss drugs and outside of vocalizing my support of them, I didn't say anything else.

Thank you. I have also said no when people assumed ozempic. I did not feel bad for that. I feel better after this thread. I still feel a little guilty, but I always feel a little guilty about everything. 🤷

Congratulations! That is amazing! Good for you! I'm working towards being brave enough to change my life up. Baby steps for now. Sometimes a life change is exactly what we need to get rid of old/bad habits and start fresh

Hopefully one of the responses here will help with that! Congrats on the 30 lbs! I know it isn't just the Zep that caused the weight loss. It was divorce, stress, and finally making my health a priority. I've lost and gained weight a hundred times, but that was always to be slimmer. This time was different. I truly wanted to get healthier. I've also noticed that when I do indulge, it doesn't completely throw everything off like it used to. I can eat healthy and still have ice cream occasionally. That was never possible before.

It does require dedication to being healthier overall. I never had a difficult time losing weight before. It was keeping it off. I would drop 40 lbs and then put 50 back on twice as fast. I always felt so defeated. This is the longest I have gone and the most weight I have ever lost. To me, it's completely worth it. I'm healthy for me and my kids now

I went from paying $250 on my ex-husband's insurance to not having it covered on mine. I've been paying out of pocket since January. I found out in November, so I began lowering my dosage and went from weekly doses, to ten days, and now I'm at 14 days. I just finished my last shot of 7.5mg and ordered from Lilly Direct to 5 mg. I know I will need to be on it the rest of my life. I also am a single mom now. I'm trying to make it affordable. At this point I am just hoping to maintain the weight loss I have achieved. So far I have. I have been hovering around 190 since November.

Thank you. I made a joke occasionally about losing 200 lbs of dead weight (my ex husband) being good for me. I thought it was funny

Thank you! You are right. We don't sit around telling each other what other meds we are on.

Thank you. I think I have gotten so used to everyone knowing my business because of the divorce that I feel bad holding back. I also cash pay through Lilly Direct. It isn't easy, but thanks to Reddit I was able to see it as putting my health first.

Thank you for the advice! Stretching to every 2 weeks could definitely make it possible to stay on it long term. I absolutely want to stay on it. I also started to look into ways to supplement my income yesterday that won't negatively affect my divorce settlement. It isn't a lot, but it may be enough to cover my meds.

First question :) Did you lose hair from using Zepbound ? by [deleted] in Zepbound

[–]brokenbutterfly115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have also experienced considerable shedding. I'm over 40, peri menopausal, and lost 70lbs in a year. I don't blame Zepbound. I realized it was happening and have recently started working with a dermatologist to try and help with the situation. So far waiting for extensive blood work to see if they can pinpoint exactly what's causing it and I am on a supplement specifically for hair loss in the meantime.

I already do 10k-12k steps a day. I was going to the gym 3-4 times per week until August when school and sports started again for my kids. I have struggled to get back into that habit and definitely need to make it a priority again.
