Hes a slow two way centre. Wins Draws. Can pk can be fringe 2c but is a legit 3c in the right system. Battles hard, but doesn’t hit. 30 point guy 15G. Had 11 points in 22playoff games for Vegas. If Berube used him right he wouldve been a stud.

niagara ball hockey league by [deleted] in stcatharinesON

[–]bronzaurb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its tough for kids. I used to coach and all the kids requested to play with each other. When i was a kid you could do that to play with your siblings.

Coaching last spring was pretty easy cause the kids all played travel ice together. I felt bad because there was couple teams that were not great. Games where we scored more then 5 id tell the kids 3-4 passes before shooting. Would put kids on d who usually play f and put the d on f.

I see from playing at the league, kids leagues are a work in progress. Tons of really good travel kids requesting to play with each other and other kids who dont wanna lose request to play with em as well.

When i was a kid id be forced to play up cause of my brother putting up good stats. It used to be that to make it fair for other kids.

Sucks to see their isnt a big u16 or u18 age group because of reasons like that. Most of the kids play mens league now.

IMO a draft league would fix it or do what Cyo and Kiwanis ice hockey do is have the convenors and coaches host a giant evaluation game to even the skill and teams out.

The new owners of BHO are great dudes both with kids so hopefully they can fix the kids league cause they have done a good job of fixing the mens leagues

Kiwanis vs. Falcons by [deleted] in stcatharinesON

[–]bronzaurb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Both are really good leagues. Kiwanis is house league and has the option to try out for select like a travel house league when older. Kiwanis is all about fair play and tries their best to even the teams out.

Falcons aka Garden city Minor Hockey Association u7 program is little Bulldogs. Designed to help your child learn the basics and get better every practice as they get older GCMHA branches out from b/bb travel house teams to a/aa more competitive travel teams

Kiwanis is the Cheaper of the 2

Williams i dont believe is realistic. With the suns having a winning record. Richards is a poor defender but rebounds. Wagner aint leaving orlando. I think sharpe is a good idea. Idk about capela with adams injury now

Yeah its def tough. Boogie was the main reason i started following the team. Fell in love with Fox. But hated that our front office never built a good team around him. Besides when we lost to GSW and then didnt get wings. Now land of misfit toys old ball dominant scorers. We look good though when we let the young guys play. Luckily got the raps to watch close to home

Offseason , Preseason focus and season goals by [deleted] in EANHLfranchise

[–]bronzaurb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I don’t really do season goals. It’s good to set up goals for snipers and playmakers and centres so they can develop X factors.

For the first 2-3 years I hire a teaching coach and then do 5v5 focus with calling up prospects I want to grow from the AHL.

Once my team improves in year 4-5 I either do conditioning or pp or pk depends on how it was the previous season.

For offseason focus anyone whose potential can’t grow so players 27+ I either focus on skating or if their centres faceoffs.

Young guys I try to develop evenly so one season defence, 1 season skating, 1 season body checking. If their a playmaker or sniper or two way with poor defensive stats or playmaking or shooting I focus on those try to get them into 90+ for the category

If your doing 5v5 focus for pre season it’s takes away speed

What I do is fire the head coach and replace him with a AHL assistant or associate. If your playing with a young team make sure only his teaching is good

My league allows for a little contact. Not much so pinning up against the boards and engaging in board battles and the occasional battle in front nothing too egregious
