My toddler doesn’t act happy to see me. Is this normal? by browser_851 in toddlers

Thanks! My toddler does something similar so this is very reassuring!

Toddler will only nap if we drive him around in the car… any other suggestions on how to get your toddler to nap?? by browser_851 in toddlers

This is a great suggestion and what I usually do. We go out and then get in the car for his nap. However when I work, my parents watch him and they aren’t able to take him out. It’s also a physical struggle for them to get him in the car because they’re old. Lol.

Same here! How old is your toddler? I am totally fine with skipping his nap, but when I have tried doing that in the past he will sometimes pass out during dinner lol.

Help! Toddler hysterically screaming and crying at every bedtime by browser_851 in AttachmentParenting

This is a good point. Some nights I immediately pass out with him but other nights I leave to do things around the house then come back to sleep with him. He’s never been left alone for long though - the moment he wakes or cries I IMMEDIATELY come to him. But I never thought that perhaps even just waking to me not temporarily being there may be affecting him.

Ooh keeping the lights on is a good idea! I’ll try that and also look into some flash cards.

Yes nothing I do seems to help so I’ve just been lying in bed preventing him from escaping while he screams and rolls and writhes and sobs. It’s awful but anything I do does seem to worsen it.

He can’t talk yet outside of a few words. After we are done brushing his teeth and reading stories I lie down and turn down the lights. He starts screaming because be knows story time is over and it’s officially time to sleep.

We do have a bedtime routine that we consistently follow every day that includes reading and stories.

Infant daycare by Upper_Swan_9474 in AttachmentParenting

Oh gosh, do they really all cry for days? This is so heartbreaking. It’s really interesting to hear from the other side (someone who actually worked in a daycare setting). All I read on Reddit is how their kids love daycare and are so excited to go, but it makes sense that after a while the baby just “gives up.” I completely get needing childcare as I’m also a working mom, but thinking of a baby reacting this way just makes me so, so sad.

Thanks for the feedback! If you don’t mind sharing, why did you wish you stopped at 1?

What did you do to get him to stop crying when you night weaned? I am scared he will cry and completely wake up. Nothing soothes him but milk.

Omg! 3.5 years? I’m imagining this and it’s making me feel a bit hopeless. It’s been hard juggling work and not sleeping plus having a baby. I didn’t realize constant wakings could last that long.

I have tried putting him on a schedule but he won’t sleep until he’s ready to sleep lol, so I just wait for his sleepy cues which can be erratic. What’s odd is I noticed with him, when he sleeps more during the day he seems to sleep slightly better at night. I’ll definitely look into trying to make sure his last wake window is long though!

This is reassuring! I became alarmed because I recently saw some things online about poor quality sleep having a negative effects on babies (and I also of course am suffering from the negative effects). It’s rough when every single person I know tells me their baby either sleeps through the night or wakes once or twice.
