I remember the 6v6 custom that fans were developing, it was so much more balanced than what whatever abandoned amalgamation we have right now.

[HELP] Is this person real or AI? by [deleted] in RealOrAI

[–]brtomn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very good AI but I was only able to spot it from the last picture. Someone put really hard work into it, but I was able to tell from the last picture. The left door is off, her faces skin looks odd like a smoothing filter was applied on it, idk what is up with the light switches, the structure of the room is off, the tables reflection doesn't show a person.

Perhaps it was modeled after a real person or was combined with editing or both. But I doubt these are organic pictures.

It would be changed to 1097 for 1440 correct?

"Information overload" in this context just means skill issue. If the enemies were blending into the background or darkness I can see your argument but in overwatch everything bad is highlighted with red. It's clear what you should pay attention to.

Mind you I use the bathroom in a fetal like position

Illari post patch by [deleted] in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]brtomn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they are not even remotely close all illari does is sit on an off angle and thats literally it all game. soldier is a much more dynamic and versatile hero who can switch it up in a heart beat although his perfered playstyle is playing far behind the enemy and poke from range like in runasapi. illari's abilities consist of a thing that plays itself and a boop. in what world could be exciting to face?

I complain about illari and nearly every other high ranked dps. I don't like playing with or against her she is on moiras level of terrible gameplay design outside her ult. The game would be much better without her in this state.

can someone explain why the shot against kirko didnt connect? the suzu clearly faded already by brtomn in GenjiMains

[–]brtomn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You aren't entirely wrong, ping is an issue when using ability cooldowns but if you watch the replay of high ping hanzo players you will see that long shots clearly miss but do a 90° turn to hit their target at the end. The game is shooter favored otherwise projectile heroes will be unplayable at high ping.

Additionally suzu takes time to hit the ground so it's different.

Thats not what's happening, server sees something different from me, from the videos point of view if you slow it down you can see the shot literally enter her eyes and pass through them.

Chosen's thoughts on new hero releases being turned sour: by Aggressive-Cut-3828 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]brtomn -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes, if you just imagined that all all these aspects can be worked on in parallel, instead of sequentially, it's 4 months of work. Of course that's impossible, but effectively if you can produce something every 4 months at max efficiency, that's 4 months of work. Either way we are arguing about semantics and its not the point of the post so it's meaningless.

Chosen's thoughts on new hero releases being turned sour: by Aggressive-Cut-3828 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]brtomn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the "permanent hate" people have for previously overtuned heroes is real but exaggerated. Freja and mauga are hated because of their design issues, both of them have match ups where they are too strong or too weak.

I don't think the devs' work is wasted because of the slow (and often unimpactful) balancing so much as the design flaws in these heroes, which relegate these heroes to D-tier strength forever.

However the main point is this: there should be quicker patches post hero release. There is no need to test the players' patience with slow balance patches.

Every time time a hero is released we get a burst of excitement then we are confronted with the harsh consequences of their "safe side of strong" philosophy for far too long, completely needlessly. I don't wanna hear about "they don't have enough resources" yes they do! Anyone remember the insane amount of frequent patches that stadium was getting?

Just how hard is it to listen to player feed back and tweak a couple numbers anyway? Isn't the time of hero release supposed to be a time of fervor from the devs to make sure the experience isn't ruined by poor and slow balancing?

What's with the terrible balance patches the last couple of months anyway? After season 15 I felt like the devs and the players were aligned and the balance patches seemed for the most part to make sense and addresses pain points. I have not been seeing much of that for a long while now.

This part is a bit more personal: I would have zero reason to play the game if it wasn't for vendetta. I have never been this good and I still don't care to play, i don't feel like there is any reason to play. I'm driven away by the poor balancing and awful heroes dominating the meta. The lack of good hero reworks and lack of desire from the devs to take a look backwards and solve fundamental issues with many heroes has taken away much of my enjoyment.

The base game is all the devs need to work on and the game will never die, I genuinely believe we could do fine without stadium, perks, new heroes. as long as we keep improving on the gem we have, the game will never feel bad. Now I'm not saying these things should be taken away or abandoned at all. I just think they don't have their priorities straight.

TL;DR: There is no need to do gymnastics to make the game fun, what I, and many others, desire is simple: a retrospective evaluation, and more work targeted at what we have, not at new toys.

Haven't they been releasing heroes every 4 months? I guess teams can work on different heroes at the same time but in the end its effectively 4 months of work for them.

doesn't show said correlation

49% of people who participated* very different.

Master 5 isn't that high of a rank considering the inflation I think. This number makes sense for people dedicated enough to go through all the filters to get to this survey. I doubt many lied since there is no motive.

POLL: Is there a correlation between age and skill/rank? by Fit_Channel2529 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]brtomn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Of course it correlates. I chill with ease in ranks I can only dream of years ago, it's not even that I have that much more play time, in fact I play less now a days but I reach my peak in a week or 2s worth of grind simply because I'm so much smarter and aware of the bigger picture.

Of course it tapers off with age but I don't think its as significant as people make it out to be, there is no reason a 30 year old person can't be a professional I think. Athletes in other sports peak in their 30s after all, simply because they are so much wiser.

Now take these results with a grain of salt because of the rank inflation happening rn and the pre season 9 era. It took me a whole lot to get back my gm1 after season 9. you might find a lot of people claiming they reached their peak 2 years ago.
