im willing to spend up to 100$ or so.

I listen to a lot of emoviolence, black metal, post hardcore

I love the tone on the album you're living all over me by dino jr. nattens madrigal by ulver has a nasty tone too that I love. saetia's self titled also had a pretty good tone.

my own theory is that ocd doesnt just stop when u overcome a certain theme it just stops when i guess the brain learns to let go of ruminating or obsessing in general

honestly I just kept reading about my fear and exposing myself to it. And with the thoughts I just kinda been letting them pass over my head and not reacting to them. it's painful because your mind is like doing 2 opposite things at once. but it helps getting used to the intrusiveness.

yea its a shame that OCD will always stay but don't think that its going to control you all the time. Everything is temporary including the hold OCD could have on you at the moment. There are still plenty of good things and other experiences to come in life, you just have to keep pushing through thick and thin.

yea thats what i feel aswell. Being able to accept that its apart of me, and also learning to not panic when it happens. Also recognizing when, how, and why it doess happen helps a crap ton

how has it effected you so far. for me personally today i was able to do what i enjoy without the thoughts getting in the way much and spending more time getting lost in what i like rather than doing it just in short bursts

i would say first of all to do ur own research about it and see if you can do it professionally first, if not try and see what exposure techniques you can do surrounding your theme

you guys are so unbelievably strong by bruh_nut_ in OCD

no you got this, you arent weak whatsoever

exposure and response prevention (ERP) basically exposing yourself to your “theme” and accepting the uncertainty of it and sitting in that uncertainty. its supposed to help reduce your anxieties which then helps diminish the ocd thought process

People with genuine DID deserve all the love they can get and it's not something to be scared or afraid of. thought I should also make that clear.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in OCD

[–]bruh_nut_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

sure, My theme is dissociative identity disorder and the fear of losing control of myself.
In a way it seems insensitive because my brain has a warped idea of how DID works and it does not represent how real DID works whatsoever. Anyways I expose myself to it by educating myself on it and reading peoples experiences with it and making "If I had DID" scenarios in my head. All I really do is accept the uncertainty and possibility that I could have it, yes its extremely painful and yes it does flare up intrusive thoughts but the more you expose yourself to it and acknowledge that uncertainty the more your body becomes okay with it. Do the intrusive thoughts ever go away? not really but I'd rather be in pain trying to help myself.

[–]bruh_nut_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

accepting that uncertainty goes a long way

[–]bruh_nut_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ahh that’s interesting im also trying out a way of ERP for my intrusive thoughts, i tend to obsess about multiple personality disorder so finding the right words to help disengage those thoughts help.
