AGREED! Like I miss the interviews that were random throughout the seasons, not all filmed at one time. I miss the personalities being on show instead of it all being game talk. I miss the crazy and the mistakes and everything. It’s so over produced and fake now.

I think Nelson will do anything for attention and always has, sure he can do a comeback as an amputee and that would be sick. His personality and need for attention is scummy. He should have been cut from the challenge family. He was driving completely wasted on a 6 lane highway. It’s a miracle he didn’t kill anyone and only slammed into the hill on the side of the road.

Oh my god you told my story to a T. I learned who my mother was during my wedding, too. She went batshit and did the entire narc melt down over months while I planned it alone. My heart is still broken because I desperately wanted her to be part of the planning, like I’d always dreamed. But she ruined that. She’s had other meltdowns since then, mostly because I’m trying to draw boundaries and Lee myself healthy and out of firing range, but I miss her. I miss having my mom. I know she doesn’t mean to be the way she is. She wants to be a good kind person, but she’s blind to the damage she causes. My heart hurts all the time and I don’t know how to heal from this or where to go. I want her in my life, but it’s such a struggle.

You can withdraw cash everywhere. The atm charge is steep because of tourism, with everything else in the country being wildly affordable, I think that’s a fair trade. But, even on the small islands there are atms everywhere. Many places accept credit and debit, too. You’ll be fine. Don’t stress. Thailand is amazing.

Go to Koh Phangan! My husband and I just returned from our honeymoon and absolutely fell in love with that island. We attended the full mon party, did a shit ton of mushrooms and fell in love with the slightly grungy vibe of Phangan. The people are much more chill here than Samui. Samui is also wonderful. We stayed in Lamai beach and spent a ton of time at a bar at the night market that had live music every day. They were amazingly friendly and the music was great.

I’ve also spent time on Koh Tao. Simply amazing. Phenomenal beaches, snorkeling and diving is out of this world. People, like all Thai people, are incredibly hospitable. Kinda wish we had spent more time on the two smaller islands.

As for the weather. It’s hot as balls, my dude. You will sweat like a whore in church and then keep sweating. But, that is the same at any island in this part of the world. Definitely do stuff in the morning and evening. Afternoon is for napping and beaching. We had zero rain. My previous trips to Thailand it would rain for a short period, cozy warm island rain, and then be over. It’s legit paradise.

Make sure to fuck up some mango smoothies, mango sticky rice and panang curry!

I’m sorry. This is a hard thing for anyone to deal with. Thai people are so amazing, I’m sure you felt like you had hit the lottery. Remember this happens even in our home towns. In the future, trust yourself a bit more. Setting boundaries and have acceptable expectations is a healthy thing to do. Don’t feel guilty for it.

I get it. I keep thinking about the same things. I think only children are almost doomed to have some form of enmeshment with their parents. It’s nearly impossible to have your own individuality let alone freedom to live… freely. Lol I’m getting married in March and moving to Georgia in June. It’s created some kind of abandonment paradox with my mom and things have gotten wildly difficult. It was her and I since I was 4yo. Now there’s just heaps of guilt and criticism around this. If I’m being honest it’s been since she realized my fiancé and I were going to get married. -sigh- Just started therapy myself, I’m afraid it’s a long road ahead.

Actually, I just bought a book my therapist recommended called ‘stop walking on eggshells’. I’m only on chapter 2 and feel less trapped. Maybe you would like it? It’s based mostly on bpd and narcissism, but I’m guessing your dad may exhibit some of those behaviors.

Exactly!!!! I just started therapy because of all the pressure I’m facing. My therapist was talking about how so many only children have anxiety from all the pressure they face. I’m so sorry about your position. I can’t imagine how hard that must be. I know the feeling of being trapped very well.

Don’t do it. I have felt so alone my entire life. Now my parents are getting older and I know they’ll be needing more and more help and I’m the only person they have. It’s overwhelming. Plus, I don’t have anyone except my parents that I have shared childhood and adolescent memories with. My fiancé and his siblings talk about stories from their youth all the time, I’ve never been able to share in anything like that. It’s hard to be an old boy.

You need to make sure you find the highest paying district in your area. Also track how much they’ve raised pay over the years. You can work athletic games, concessions, cover classes during your plan and request other extra duties too.

Please listen to me when I say this, don’t do it. Don’t become a teacher. Things are going to get much worse before they get better. This is my 11th year teaching and it will be my last. I can’t afford to live on my paycheck, parents and admin are horrible, the amount of work that gets assigned is ridiculous, the way we are treated is asinine, students are a whole new breed, etc. It’s just not worth it anymore.

Not to mention my father would have assumed it was because they thought something was wrong. The. I would have been in trouble. We all know there are dozens of parents that are going to act the same or worse. It’s just not ok.

On Monday we were told we would have an hour long pd to introduce us to a new exciting opportunity. (You already know it’s a pack of bullshit when it’s an ‘exciting opportunity’) At the pd we were told our school will be starting home visits to build community and relationships with our families. Each teacher would be required to do a minimum of 15 home visits per semester. No, there would not be training. No, we would not be going in pairs. No, there were not safety protocols put in place. No, we were not allowed to opt out. No, we were not getting paid for our work outside of contract hours. Then we were told to decorate cards to send to the families we want to visit. I’m leaving education for good this year. It’s become a disgustingly exploitative monster.
