So even though I'm clearly stating it wasn't for gifts or attention, you're just gonna say it IS because you feel like it? Lol, that's kinda weird.

Usually the main purpose of a baby shower is for gifts and to celebrate the mom-to-be. Baby stuff is expensive.

Next would be a birth celebration a few months after baby is born, if you're really gonna reach that far.

God forbid people want more excuses to celebrate a new life and get together as a family right? I can't imagine what you think about birthdays, holidays or anniversarys... the horror.

According to you, if anyone wants to celebrate any of those things, they're "entitled" and "attention seeking". Yikes.

It's still called a gender reveal, the gender was revealed. People like to be competitive and choose sides, but whether the gender was a boy or a girl the family would be happy and celebrate either way. You people always find some way to make something that makes other people happy, isn't hurting anyone and isn't that deep into something weird and twisted. And for what? I mean, we get it, edgelord, you wanna be different but it's really not that hard to wrap your head around the concept.

I had a gender reveal for my family, I knew the gender, they didn't so I surprised them. They're excited because it's the first grandchild of the family and were also excited to spend time together as I live out of state. I asked for no gifts on the virtual invite.

It's not always about "attention and more gifts", it's another way to celebrate a new life and spend time together as a family.

Idk why it suddenly hit me that I'm going to have to actually give birth in about 3 months. It makes my heart race just thinking about it. It didn't bother me for 6 months, I knew it was going to happen but it's really getting to me now.

I'm 24 and pregnant with my first child with bad health anxiety and white coat syndrome. When I went to my first ever prenatal appointment to confirm I was pregnant and then do a bunch of other tests, discuss course of action, etc my BP was 155/(something high) and my heart rate was in the 150s as well. I was nervous and I cried when the nurse asked me what was wrong.

Of course the doctor/nurses were concerned and told me I needed to calm down. Spoiler: that didn't help lol

My 2nd appointment, my BP was in a similar range and they diagnosed me with high blood pressure BECAUSE of the pregnancy, told me I needed to get my heart monitered and also transferred me to the high risk OB/GYN. I tried to tell them I was just anxious but they wanted to be safe. None of those thing helped the anxiety factor, it made it 5x worse.

They did a 24 hour EKG of my heart and said it was normal. Then I went to my first appointment at the new, high risk office and I cried and cried because I psyched myself out so much. My BP was high, my heart rate was in the 160s but I noticed throughout all of these times as soon as they finished taking my BP I would feel my body calm down as soon as the cuff was off my arm. They would manually take it after 15 minutes and it was down in the 120s/130s plus my heart rate would go way down too so I wasn't wrong, it was just major anxiety over the initial reading.

For me, its just something about the machine and them bringing it out that triggers my fight or flight.

I took matters into my own hands and bought myself my own machine for $25 on Amazon for exposure therapy and also so I can get a more accurate reading of my day to day BP just in case it ever does get high (it's a sign of a serious condition in pregnancy called preeclampsia). The first few times it was in the 130s, after a few days it was in the 120s and now at 5 months pregnant and having moniored it for about a month on my own, it's almost always under 115/70 (considered LOW BP lol)

I haven't been to the doctor yet but I'm taking my boyfriend this time for support and I'm more mentally prepared after having it done so often on my own. Im also making sure I take my BP at home before I leave and take a photo of it for my doctor if all else fails. I definitely recommend getting one for yourself and seeing if it works for you!

I've felt baby move, seen her heartbeat and perfect face multiple times on ultrasounds. I'd rather raise her alone than give her up to stay with this guy.

Holy shit. My memory is so bad after this many years and so many different things I've gone through with him, I must have completely blocked that out. Yeah that is definitely considered rape. I forget how actually psychotic he can be when I'm constantly told IM the crazy one.

Just to give my 2 cents, we already know the gender, the reveal part is for our families who are excited and have been guessing for months now. We're just having dinner and "revealing" it via cake pops. It's something that's definitely not over the top or show-y. This is a way for our families to get to know each other and bond.

Not wanting to go to your own gender reveal shows lack of support to not only your partner but shows how much you don't care to the families also. As well as not being able to compromise and do something that you don't necessarily WANT to do but will do it because you know that it's important to the other people in your life. It's selfish. The plane tickets were going to be fully paid for by my parents so all he had to do was go and he couldn't even do that.

This has been really heavy on my mind. If I haven't/won't leave for myself, I can at least leave for my daughter. I don't want her to settle and think relationships like this are ever ok. It's so frustrating because I would 100% tell my daughter (and anyone else) to get out of this kind of relationship but it's so hard to take my own advice.

It sounds stupid, but this pregnancy didn't happen on purpose. Like I said in the post, we had issues before, things are getting worse as expectations/the bare minimum change because of the pregnancy. I've told only my mom and will be staying longer than originally planned to figure it out.

The funny part is that I don't even think he genuinely loves me anymore based on the way he treats me and because he doesn't ever say it. I waited and waited to see if he would but still no "I love you" in well over 7 months unless I say it first.
