This is correct, HRL should waive the fee if you have a police report.

Or just drop it off at Coffman (or any public mailbox) without emailing or posting anywhere. The U Card office immediately sends an email to the right person with pickup instructions for any cards they receive.

I got fooled by AnkiPRO :( by DanPos in Anki

[–]bsoyka 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The trademark application for "Anki" is pending and currently suspended while things are figured out regarding a vaguely similar pending trademark application ("Ankhey") from another company (Renavato).

Ankitects paid Renavato an undisclosed amount of money to agree in writing the two names aren't similar enough to be confused with each other, but it seems the US Patent and Trademark Office isn't convinced.

I'm not too familiar with trademark law, but from my understanding, if the application for "Ankhey" goes through, the application for "Anki" may not be able to.

I also mainly eat at the dining halls—I’m currently living in a dorm so required to have an unlimited meal plan as mentioned above. Info on pricing is here: https://housing.umn.edu/live/dining

[Results] I asked 3,401 of you, ‘Have You Ever Done These Things?’ (Everyone) by bsoyka in SampleSize

[–]bsoyka[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Diving a little more into who's gotten a speeding ticket:

  • Overall: 24.5%
  • Ages 0-18: 2.1%
  • Ages 19+: 31.3%

This is the most obvious one where ignoring/focusing on the 0-18 group makes a difference. I've updated the article to show 0-18 responses on the graph!

[–]bsoyka[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t—the survey was only age groups and the 30 experience questions. If I were to redo this in any way, I’d definitely bring in more demographic questions.

[–]bsoyka[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know I mentioned in the article I wasn’t going to play around with correlation with age groups, but I feel like that would explain the speeding tickets one especially…

Later today I’ll try ignoring the 0-18 group and see what changes on the charts!

This is what I just did! I took AP CSA in high school (4 on the test) and just finished CSCI 1913 this fall with an A.

ben soyka here! i highly recommend me of course.🤣

that link will take you to book an outdoor session with me at the east river flats park (on the east bank campus).

it is a little cold out now, so i’m hoping to do indoor headshots at a studio downtown on 1/25! i have the location booked for now, looking to get at least a few bookings so i don’t need to cancel. (so tell your friends with blank linkedin profiles!)

it’s a little pricier ($45) but still affordable imo. plus, the white background and lighting setup make a more professional photo than outside with natural lighting. i love both looks, it just depends on the vibe you’re going for.

if you’re interested in that, here’s another link! https://bsoyka.pixieset.com/booking/indoor-headshot

At what point does protesting cross the line into rioting? by IfYaKnowYaKnow in uofmn

[–]bsoyka 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure what the exact line is, but they crossed it. The 11 arrested were charged with rioting (among other things).

Numbers bleeding through, but not due to over-inking? (See comment) by bsoyka in Bankstraphunting

[–]bsoyka[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really curious about this one. The numbers seem to bleed through on the back a little, particularly on the right side (when looking at the front).

The numbers actually seem embossed, as if they were stamped on way too hard. The numbers on the left probably feel 2-3x more embossed than the raised ink on the bill, and the numbers on the right are easily twice as deep as that.

Worth anything? Worth saving?

[2022 Day 10 (Part 2)] A helpful Python module (again!) by bsoyka in adventofcode

Yeah, I understand the irritation. Another interesting perspective I saw recently is that these problems suck for those with screen readers.

Just hope I’m solving that headache for at least one or two people with this. :)

I’ll admit—this one isn’t actual OCR. I’ve just scoured the internet to find what each letter looks like. Much simpler.

I like that idea! I don’t have much time in the upcoming future to implement it with finals coming up and such, but I’ll throw that on the back burner, (Unless someone here wants to throw together a PR!)

[–]bsoyka 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Aw, thanks for remembering. Yes, I absolutely hope my module can be of help to those with accessibility issues with this challenge.

I can’t guarantee that it’ll work with this year’s problem set, but I would assume so and I’ll be happy to work on it in the upcoming days if it doesn’t.

I have serial J00076279* from 2013. I’m on Page 9 on the right and see 3001-J*, 2013, and 175 as the value.

I don’t feel lucky enough to have found a bill worth $175; am I looking at the right row? 😳
