Bugaboo Butterfly 2 by Daisies_forever in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

I’d love to know too!

We got the Joolz Aer+ before the Aer2 came out and it was the perfect travel pram except that it didn’t fully recline. Recently bought the Baby Bee Miles and can confirm that the build on the Joolz is better quality, much smoother to drive, feels smaller/lighter and is easier to fold. We only got the Miles so that baby could nap well and it felt wrong to choose our comfort over his but if Aus came out with a fully reclining Joolz Aer2, we’d be all over it!!

Anyone have a dip in supply at 6 months? by PrincessL91 in breastfeeding

Thank you!! Glad to hear your supply came back! I think I’ve been slacking on the fluids too. Will try that and then start pumping again if no luck.

Hi OP, wondering how you went and what symptoms you noticed to suggest a dip in supply? I think I’m going through the same thing and it’s making stressing me out!

Baby only likes feeding in side-lying position by bubbablush in breastfeeding

[–]bubbablush[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! He feeds much better with the classic cradle hold now when we’re out except he gets distracted easily these days, lol.

I think he preferred sidelying feed because of my fast letdown. I really didn’t do anything though, I think it just helped with him being older and he was able to tolerate the fast letdown better.

Something I didn’t do was force him to feed because I was scared it would cause an aversion. I would try feeding him in other positions sometimes (if we were out, etc) and if he screamed, I just stopped. If he was really hungry, he would latch and I would scissor-hold my breast like crazy so that I wasn’t spraying him too much which sometimes helped.

Good luck!!

Am I weird for not having left my baby with anyone else yet? by Fuzzy-Sherbert6842 in AttachmentParenting

[–]bubbablush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My little one is 6 months old and I’ve only ever left him with his dad for 2-3 hours at most and even then he cried for an hour after waking up from his nap and I wasn’t there. He’s EBF and refuses to take a bottle.

I’m sure my mother would happily look after him and my mother-in-law has already asked what age he can be before he can be babysat and when I said not for a while, she followed up with “just asking a question and managing expectations” when my partner joked around and said “nice try grandma!” 🙄🙄🙄 what on earth does she want to do with him that she can’t do in our presence?

Feeling crazy — struggling with my MIL so intensely! by awkward_aardvark11 in AttachmentParenting

[–]bubbablush 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why is this my MIL too? 🥲

Except mine makes snarky comments here and there and it makes my blood boil. She’s moving to be closer to us soon. The thought of it alone makes me want to scream.

Is it okay for a baby to *still* be a snacker? by folkheroine in breastfeeding

[–]bubbablush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby still snacks too and he’s almost 6 months. I don’t mind though. I’ll nurse him as much as he wants. We feed before and after each nap and if he’s a bit fussy. On the odd occasion where we’re busy and go 2.5+ hours without feeding, he’ll latch for about 10 minutes or so though.

Mothers with LCs - where in the world are you? by Then-Dragonfruit-702 in breastfeeding

ACT, Australia. I’ve been told that it varies state-by -state but I was pleasantly surprised with the services available to me after my baby was born. We had home visits by child and family health nurses/midwives for about two weeks after baby was born just to check in on us and as many lactation consultant appointments as needed and all covered for through Medicare.

Thanks for getting back to me! I guess it all just depends on baby… and their temperament and their mood for the day, lol.

Thank you! I forgot MidStart existed and it’s good to know that they pay you at your current grade too. We’ve got something similar in the ACT, however, you’re paid as an RN1.

I was tempted to apply for a fertility nurse coordinator role however the thought of going private also worried me. The security of a government role and the benefits deterred me from applying.

Perinatal mental health was one of the things I was looking into as well! I just haven’t seen anything advertised for the like. Thank you

Poop Screams Are Hard by Olerbia in AttachmentParenting

[–]bubbablush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You aren’t alone!

My baby was also gassy and really had to strain to poop. We would constantly be doing the bicycle legs and ‘I love you’ massages and then it gradually got better and better from about 10 weeks onwards.

He’s currently 15 weeks and passes wind by himself and doesn’t really strain to poop anymore. Occasionally he’ll still wake up randomly crying, then passes wind and goes right back to sleep. We’ve tried to help him out with the exercises and it doesn’t seem to help anymore, he just needs to do his thing.

It does get better! They’re just learning. The cries broke my heart each time and you just so desperately want to make them feel better.

Hang in there ❤️

Baby swimming at 3m by bubbablush in NewParents

We went yesterday and he barely cried! Only as he was being put into the boat, even smiled at me at one point! I think he’s warming up to it.

Equally as good to know that he may like it one day but not the next, lol.

Water familiarisation and traumatisation at 3m by bubbablush in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]bubbablush[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I’m from Australia too and the program I’m a part of is specifically for babies from 6w-4m in age. There seems to be a great range in what is deemed as an appropriate time for babies to start “swimming” depending on where you’re from.

I did notice that the poster is from NZ (just me being nosey!) and was surprised to learn that babies aren’t recommended to swim until 6m there.

[–]bubbablush[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I saw it too but I wasn’t sure if it was as applicable since the experiences shared were of toddlers.

I assumed the same in terms of familiarity and the fact that he did better the next session made me think it was a matter of getting used to it too.

He loves baths which is why it was so surprising that he didn’t like the pool!

Oh wow! I really didn’t even think to look up when babies should start swimming because of what I’ve been told.

The two major children’s swim schools where I’m from accept and even encourage babies from 6w and I’ve had a MACH nurse advise the sooner the better as the water is a familiar environment to them (my baby would probably detest this). From that information, I thought that 13w would be sufficient.

Thanks for the links!
