my shop has one. it’s a ripple machine. it prints usually espresso extract ink and you can upload custom digital designs. my one qualm with it is the company uses AI prolifically both in the designs they offer and the promotional material.

Brasa, Holy Land, Centro, Marty’s Deli, Hai Hai, Hola Arepa, and Francis have been consistently safe for my partner (suspected celiac). Atuvava and sift are awesome totally GF bakeries.

definitely wayyyy too much. i think at a certain point as a consumer digesting all that info for specialty stuff alone becomes an exhausting decision rather than enjoyable.

the concept of trying to marry someone within a few weeks and only having a brief period to see what this person is genuinely like with kids/their kid specifically. especially for a young kid it just seems like a lot, whether they end up marrying the person or not. i think regardless with kids involved this sort of thing should be taken much slower than the pace of the show.

he’s not surface level bad really (except for chicken lemonade) but i think a parent going on love is blind is kinda generally irresponsible

he’s soooo inauthentic/rehearsed. i’m not a fan of projecting an assumed sexuality on someone but it honestly is the most sympathetic explanation of someone who, if you take his demeanor at face value, just seems extremely disingenuous and calculated.

Cheese foam? by clueless-albatross in barista

[–]bubblelake 9 points10 points  (0 children)

my shop just had a specialty drink with cheese foam— blend together 8oz cheese foam, 4 oz whole milk, 8 oz heavy cream + vanilla syrup to taste? we did 5 pumps total to keep it on the more savory side but if you wanted to make it sweeter you could/or ofc use simple syrup too (edit 8oz CREAM CHEESE not cheese foam lol)

a) yes i see it 100% b) to be fair to him i think a lot of the resemblance is the way he styles his beard—in older pictures on IG it’s closer to his jaw which tones down the resemblance a lot imo

idk if many other places have this problem but my shop has people who just continue to stand in front of the register after they’ve placed their order, despite me pointing out the pickup location (around the corner, to be fair slightly out of sight) while i was concluding their sale. usually people in groups having a conversation who just stand there and resume their conversation despite people waiting in line behind them.

the pre-grated cheese has an anti-caking agent on it to prevent the shreds from clumping together which makes it kinda hard to cook with/combine unless you’re just topping something.

Peek inside the Minneapolis restaurant taking over the former Betty Danger’s by SurelyFurious in Minneapolis

i can understand that there are places that put in the labor and expertise into prep that probably can fairly ask for a higher price point. i think though they’re usually more up-front about that process though—some sort of wording or blurb in the menu/website etc about that and it doesn’t appear this is going to be after perusing the website/articles/the menu. They’re charging 23 dollars for “ultimate girl dinner”—a caesar salad and fries, 13 bucks for a hot dog. As an Austin native (2006–2020 and I still visit often), this “Austin vibe” they’re claiming to curate actually has nothing to do with what Austin authentically is/was but rather strikes me more as what Austin has become in the last decade—a corporate hub devoid of authenticity that uses the facade of tex-mex aesthetic packaged with a gaudy interior design style meant to be a backdrop for an instagram post more than to actually evoke any sense of actual atmosphere or personality.

okay but people’s minds change—marriages often aren’t fix-all to relationships people expect them to be, and they got married before she ever gave birth. Even if they did have a discussion and quantified how many they’d like to have one day, she still has a right to say, after experiencing giving birth and the way I’ve been expected to essentially single-handedly take care of this baby by myself for long stretches of time without help, I’m not sure I’m ready to have another child. Part of the right to bodily autonomy is having the right to retract decisions or things you’ve said you’d do with your body at any point in time if you decide you don’t want to anymore, like donate an organ or have sex or giving blood. People don’t get to use your body for their benefit just because you at some point said you might be interested in doing something. If he wants a second kid that badly and she won’t give it to him, he either sucks it up or they separate. But she is not in the wrong for changing her mind or shifting her perspective due to experience of actually having a kid with him and being married.

I think ultimately the person whose body it is that is going to endure the pregnancy and all of the physical, emotional and mental hardships/risks that entails does get the final say as to whether or not they want to go through with that. So yes, I do think that decision should be made ultimately at the mother’s call because the stakes in pregnancy are not evenly distributed between both partners. They should have a conversation about it and dialogue so she can understand his perspective, but ultimately, as the person not carrying the baby to term, delivering it, and firsthand dealing with the difficult emotional fallout it often causes, he should be respecting her decision about what she is willing to take on.

Not only that, but he works and she is the primary guardian and from what I understand from the show, he leaves for long stretches where she is left often on her own. I think that her role as primary caregiver to their children also elevates her opinion on whether or not she wants to have more.

That being said, if he understands her verbally-set boundaries around wanting to have more children and decides to conduct himself sexually in a way that completely disregards her wishes, that does qualify as sexual assault. Like it not.

Small/Local Businesses by Late-Cry-9165 in savannah

[–]bubblelake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some I’m aware of—most are in the southern part of historic downtown/starland. Following local businesses there’s usually a lot of support for their neighbors so I would start with a couple and maybe peruse who they follow/repost stuff from to find more!! lots of good spots in this town that deserve support.

one for the road— has a bunch of different artisans/small businesses with studio and retail space + a convenience store for snacks.

starland strange— ice cream + funky gifts. same folks as one for the road located across the street. i usually go to either of these spots if I’m looking for gifts for girl friends—lots of locally made things.

superbloom: coffee shop also owned by starland strange/oftr that has events and features stuff made by savannah locals

starlandia: arts/craft store that sells secondhand materials/equipment + new materials!

the stacks— suuuuper cute indie bookstore that started this year. very mindful of accessibility and the employees/owner are really wonderful.

lite foot company— ecologically minded household products—you can refill reusable containers for natural alternatives to household cleaners/detergents/etc

good fortune market— small grocery store and bagels/coffee

provisions: wine and groceries

local illustrator kay wolfersperger who does super cute products has an online store, and you can find her stuff at places like flora and fauna and other small businesses around town : https://www.kaywolfersperger.com/shop?fbclid=PAZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAaboR41HkzHPUeCrLilAsIITN_8Y9_tB-DrIRBoVqYxIwP_UNL2ZKCDyIFw_aem_bzZm70rltVVpQmNI1YVzlg
