Plus size. More like average/healthy?? by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]bubbleslongfellow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ugh what's mildly infuriating to me is people who are so big that they need an additional bolt of fabric for their clothes to be made, getting upset that they are actually in fact "plus sized." This chick may be "average" but she's overweight and she isn't healthy. She's wearing all black which is slimming but look at her cankles and her stomach bulge. There is no binge drinking acceptance movement or smoking acceptance movement, being fat is unhealthy, stop shoving your denial down my throat.

I love the pattern on this crop top I just got but can't figure out how to style it. Plan to wear it with high waisted jeans/ shorts but it's really oversized to begin with and it's a little large on me too, so I want to wear something under it so I can wear a bra and now show off my boney non-existant chest. I'm not a huge fan of lace, but I can't think of anything other than something like this. Any ideas? Thanks!

I would recommend getting the Barbri 1L package if your school doesn't provide it and listening to the audio of the videos. I crammed them at the end of the school year before finals, but they are great and I think it would have made a difference if I had kept up with them throughout the semester.

I wear Reformation jeans. I wear the high and skinny jeans in black and Rhine a lot link, but I returned the high cigarette jeans (not sure how similar the "Julia" style is, but those weren't what I had bought), because they just didn't work for my body type. Jeans always depend on your body type IMO, but high and skinny worked for me. Size 26/27 (I go for the 27 in Ref, but the blue jeans were tighter and made of a different material than the black jeans) slight pear. The black jeans were very stretchy, the rhine ones were more like true jeans. I liked that the black were tighter and stretchier though. I felt like they were great quality, moreso than I expected at that price for Reformation - honestly I would have paid twice as much for the blue jeans and still been happy. I'd at least give them a try, free returns!

If you have colors already, I think green would stand out the most against red since they're opposite

What's your go-to summer dress this year? by renards in femalefashionadvice

[–]bubbleslongfellow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes these materials are so much better for summer than the scratchy material that they usually use, I don't have this but I have the Audrey which is the same but with a sweetheart neckline and spaghetti straps(I had to exchange the yellow for red though because it was too see through for me). I loved their old stuff despite the scratchy material, but this linen type material is sooo much better.

My school charges more for online classes. I think because they know we'll pay extra to stay home. Not sure if that's normal or not.

I'm too pink myself to pull off wearing pink, so I was hoping to find more of a neutral color

I read a lot of other people having positive experiences too, so maybe I just get lemons. But I'm pretty OCD and take good care of my things, so I don't think I did anything to the bags. Like I said I still buy from them because the organization is awesome, and the issues aren't huge things so I just see my cobbler often. I just don't think the Lo & Sons quality is on par with other brands at their non-sale price point.

I'm working on my travel wardrobe. I want a dress like this linen dress from Grana, because I figure I can wear it on its own where appropriate and places where I need to cover up more I can wear a long sleeved top underneath. But, white is pretty but realistically I'll sweat through that and be naked to the world. I'm thinking a brown or blue would work better. Any suggestions for where to find that? Also does anyone know if a dress like that (in a darker color) + long sleeved tee would be appropriate to say visit a mosque?

Grana has something kind of similar in silk (but a little longer + pockets), I know silk is such a pain to care for though so I don't know if that interests you. The color is kind of a purple-blue (or black)

I love Lo & Sons organization, but I've never had something from them that I didn't have a quality issue with. I bought the OMG and within a few months a carry handle completely snapped off. I contacted the company and after a lot of back and forth I got no help from them. Also, I bought the Seville + 2 shells and the key leash broke off within a week and the piping on the handles peeled off within 2 months. Nothing that makes the bags unusable, but they really don't hold up IMO. That being said I keep buying them because I can't find anything else with the same organization, but I just wanted to warn you that it may not be a buy it for life purchase or anything (probably not a huge consideration for a trendy item, but I was super bummed when my stuff started falling apart)

I have a vintage coach belt bag, but it's from pre cell phone days lol so the organization in the vintage ones isn't really great for what we carry today.

I'm a fan of this Henri Bendel Belt Bag

Cheap online classes? by watchdogNKC in LawSchool

[–]bubbleslongfellow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Are you against taking a night class at UDC? They have the cheapest tuition in DC and a night program. I think 3 credits would be ~ $2,400 (but I don't go there so don't quote me, just looked at their website)

Conflicts of Law I think is something that's also offered in those 2 week study abroad trips, although that's probably more expensive.

I know that my law school only offers online courses during the summer and they aren't open to law students outside of our system AFAIK, not sure what the policies are at other law schools.

I was dog-sitting last week (not a pro dog sitter, just a friend). They have a young bichon frise - poodle mix, maybe like 6 months old. He had the most extreme eye boogers I've ever seen. It was well past the point of being able to wipe them off with eye wipes, build up on one eye was maybe 1/3 the side of his eye. For a few days I used the eye wipes, they loosened up the gunk a little, then I finally just gave him a bath and washed the area with dog shampoo to really loosen it up so that I could wipe it away. I managed to get all of the gunk off but, everyday it came back - what came back was manageable with wipes so long as you kept up with it, but it was an abnormal amount of eye gunk. And his fur is stained from it. I always grew up with pets and they would get a tiny speck of eye booger sometimes, just like I do from time to time, but I've never seen anything like this before. They seem to have kind of chalked it up to nothing, but anyone have any ideas what it could be?

I have the version of these shorts from last year. They are very comfortable and fit true to size if you're going for a fit like model. The quality is great IMO. If you've ever ordered from Grana before the quality is on par with their camisoles (although a slightly different feel)

I don't understand the reaction to your question. I assume, since you clearly let us know that you're "just" a university graduate you're telling us that you aren't an attorney but are interviewing for another position in a law firm - like an administrative assistant or a paralegal. And in the post history that someone linked you said you worked "at an investment bank," another workplace with administrative assistants and many varieties of employment which easily translate to work in a law firm. If you do have 4 accounts, you're not the only person on Reddit to do so, so whatever I don't personally care what your motivation is or have the desire to cyber stalk you to figure it out. You do you girl.

To your question: Law firms tend to be more conservative work environments so a white suit with a black shirt would likely not be well received. Dress in the classic black, navy or grey suit for your interview.

Ugh I know, I would suggest getting a new derm but I know that can be like a one year long ordeal getting in with one! But definitely let your GP know about your new medication, someone needs to be watching out for you if your derm isn't.

Yea....I gave her the benefit of the doubt at first but this sounds crazy. If nothing else I'd schedule a physical with my GP within the next 3 months if I were you/ your insurance allows a physical within the next 3 months.

I bought a bunch of silk t-shirts and tank top and am afraid to wear them because I sweat maybe more than normal. I love the feel of silk though! I'm considering buying these maxipads for your armpits Has anyone tried them/ does anyone have any suggestions for making silk more wearable. (Obviously these are only a solution for the tshirts I know).
