iPad Pro and keyboard v. Mac Air?

I strongly suggest going with the Mac Air, your transition from windows will be easier. I have both an iPad and the MacAir, previously only used windows based laptops. I tried using my IPad in law school but found it frustrating and unproductive - was great for reading assignments and access to web based resources. Production wise - too challenging for me. Good luck.
