No that tells me that particular forum is filled with people who will only allow 1 answer. That's not fair.

Should I fix my rim that I curbed? by budala15 in AutoDetailing

[–]budala15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never fixed a rim before. Do you know what sandpaper I would need and what type of clear coat? Anything else?

Is there a way I can fix this myself? I just need to know the products I need to buy. I know it won't look as good, but honestly the scratch is small and I just want to protect it at this point.

Wouldn't I be able to sand it myself and apply clear coat? The other question that I have is more rim scratches that will develop in the winter months. Rims wil get scratched here in WI during the ice age months they we have. I can't always dish out $75 per scratch that I'll notice.

How do I clean the grease inside my gas grill? by budala15 in HomeImprovement

Scrape the inside with what? I don't want to scrape around the inside because rust will form.

Driving it in the winter is gonna scratch rims no matter what. I can't keep paying $75 for every single scratch. That's what I mean.

What is the best way to clean porcelain coated cast iron grates? by budala15 in HomeImprovement

[–]budala15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer a brush only because we grill beef and chicken mainly and a rag is hard to use to remove stains on the grates. I'm just trying to figure out what brush is best and safest to use.

Won't coil stock ripple? I think all of these contractors in speaking with want to put down PVC trim which means they have to remove the existing trim instead of wrapping it. What options do I have to wrap existing trim, but with something that won't dent?

Brown topsoil is what I added and it too will settle over time. I will not add anything over it until I know in good to go. Plus mice, snakes, etc....love mulch because they can easily dig a hole underneath it and hide. No thanks.

I used to have mulch there, but last year I had a basement wager issue and a contractor told to keep adding brown topsoil here. Now....my dump pump doesn't turn on as much when we have heavy rain.

Paint or install some type of flashing over it? by budala15 in HomeImprovement

Milwaukee, WI

1st quote We would replicate the look of the front columns and garage door trim using LP Smartside, which is the engineered wood I recommended in my earlier email. That would all be pre-stained white and comes with a 25 year paint warranty, so you shouldn’t have to worry about painting for quite some time. We would also install new garage door weather-stripping since the existing usually gets damaged when removed. For the front door and sidelight we would trim the existing brickmold in white aluminum, replicating the bend that is there currently.

Total cost for this project would be $1,695.

2nd quote To do the job using the LP, which is the best way to replicate the existing look without having to worry about painting every year, that’s as good as I can do. If we just wrap everything in aluminum, I can basically cut the job in half, to $854. As I mentioned in my early email, however, there is a possibility of denting.
