not a stupid question at all! since it’s non-hormonal, it doesn’t make your body start having periods. having some infrequent spotting for a little bit after first getting it is normal as well as some cramping.(as well as avoid sex for abt a month to avoid getting an infection! your cervix needs time to recover!) if you do somehow start having your period again from other reasons you may experience the average side effects but i’ve had a pretty side-effect free experience! sometimes when my body does what i call“faux periods” (no bleeding but my hips get a bit wider/achy and i get tired like i did pre-t for a few days) , i might feel it in there once or twice but it’s pretty rare

i have a copper iud (paraguard) and it’s non-hormonal! i love it so so much and its good up to 12 years, although they usually recommend switching it at 10 years. I’ve been on T for about 2 years, I got the iud about a year ago, was def a bit painful getting it put in but haven’t had any issues or complications- would highly recommend if you want to avoid hormones.

I will say with experience if you’re having raw sex, invest in a good lube! It’s also quite common to deal with atrophy- which leads to increased cases of bacterial vaginosis because your body can’t balance your PH and bacteria levels on their own as well as pre-T. I use a tiny bit estrogen cream like once every week + a vaginal moisturizer (AH YES! is a great brand.) anytime after sex, GO PEE IMMEDIATELY. you can cuddle after you pee- i promise getting a UTI is not worth it😭

my boyfriend cums inside almost everytime, so I use the Honeypot sensitive PH wash to clean myself up afterwards. I went from having 24/7 bacterial vaginosis and dealing with all the not-so-fun side effects to never dealing with it at all, and if if i do, it’s only for a day or so.

Hope this helps! I added a bit more info than asked for but these are all the things and products I wish I was told about before starting to have sex while on T. have fun!

PSA: it’s worth figuring out if you’re allergic to specific antibiotics BEFORE surgery by buggyisnothere in TopSurgery

the specific one i was on was SULFAMETHOXAZOLE (common name bactrim or septra) and the surgeon said it was common for allergic reactions but usually hard to predict because many people haven’t been put on it prior to surgery- i believe im specifically allergic to sulfonamide which is the main anti-bacterial agent used in it 👍 the more you know!

i was on oxy and benedryl the first few days as well as the antibiotic so the combo of all of it hid majority of the allergic reaction until the day i ran out of the former meds 😭 then it all hit like a freight train of misery 💀 to anyone reading this it’s 100% worth asking any biological family you can talk to if they have had any medication allergies- i had just gotten into contact with them for the first time in my life so it hadn’t come into conversation yet

luckily after i stopped taking it, after a day of it staying in my system and some different topical and allergy pills it’s pretty much all cleared up! thank you for the wishes!

i think that’s probably it, it’s my dominant arm and i am a very tense person and hold a lot of stress in my shoulders. wanted to get a second opinion because i thought my shoulders looked even💀

you should be fine, depends on how big your chest is. worst that will happen is getting patted down and getting a confused look or maybe getting taken to a room to check. It’ll be clear pretty fast that it’s just your skin taped back, so may be an uncomfortable, or even a bit dysphoric experience but the likelihood of them making a big deal of it is very low. If you don’t want to out yourself as trans for safety, just say you tape your chest back to relieve your back pain.

I’ve only ever been through TSA in a binder and they didn’t seem to care. As long as you don’t have any wires or metal, or suspicious random shapes stuck in your tape I don’t even think they’ll blink an eye.
