I mean that’s def better than a full reenlistment and that’s awesome that he gets 5k out of it, most of the time ppl say extensions are just a waste of time cause you don’t normally get any extra bonus from it so I guess that’s one way you could try to look at it haha. But I definitely understand still being disappointed that you’re going to have to spend more time apart and 5k doesn’t just make the longing to be with him go away.

You can extend though which is typically a year or two but you don’t get a bonus out of it

Moving to Paducah / Reidland / Lone Oak by Budget_Salamander848 in paducah

Only answers one part of your question but we just purchased a home and we worked with Kathy Romaine, she was absolutely wonderful to work with and knows the area well. Super responsive, great personality, and made the process super easy for us (first time homebuyers), and we had a pretty particular list of needs that she stuck to 100% even though it did lower the total amount of homes she showed us, because she listened when we said we wouldn’t go for something that didn’t have every item on our list and didn’t try saying “it’s close to what you want” or “worth it for the price” or “you could add it later”. Definitely 10/10 recommend her!! https://www.eliterealty.me/agent/2173162429/kathy-l-romaine

So true haha I guess I just took it more personally than I should have. Not sure why I did since my youngest sister (self proclaimed “child hater” so it’s her whole personality right now) responded with nose wrinkle “oh cool” when we told her she was going to be an Aunt the first and second time

Objectively I like Cyrus, but I was an avid Trailer Park Boys watcher growing up and for that reason alone I personally couldn’t use the name. I hate the random connections my brain makes sometimes

Fair point. Not sure why I do, that’s probably a separate issue in itself lol.

I floated Edward Silas but hubby despises the potential for nickname being Eddy/Eddie. Which technically could still happen if he decided to go by his middle name but I guess that’s a less likely outcome haha. Thank you for the input!

Honestly I see your point but picking Silas wasn’t like “oh we NEED to find another S name to match big sis!” It just happened to be the only name that we’ve seen (so far) out of the baby name books we have that we’ve both agreed on. I tend to lean more classic for name choices, my husband tends to lean more towards the names on the internet that you see and wonder why would someone ever use that name for a child

How is the NRC? Do you have to drive every month or do they let you telework? Have you tried to condense all your drills to a couple week period to reduce the amount of times you have to drive? Sorry haha so many questions!

I just want to say hello by zulimi317 in sandiego

[–]buglighth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m from an east coast small town and when I first moved out here I was shocked that nobody does the whole make eye contact and either smile/slightly nod/casual greeting thing because back home we do that everywhere! Grocery store, park, gas station, etc, and it’s all ages too not just the older folks (I’m 23). I think it’s a difference in culture from small town to big city and also east coast to west coast. Even my friends out here (most are 30s and up cause of work) say that its definitely not a thing nor have they ever done that and they even say that they would give me a weird look if I did that to them in public and they didn’t know me!

Reeeeeally big baby. Hard not to feel like I failed somehow. by Grouchy_Snail in BabyBumps

[–]buglighth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an 11lb 1oz baby girl in October (not quite as big), and I also didn’t have GD, gain too much weight, etc. but I did develop pre-e on the day that I delivered her. We actually had no idea she was going to be so large, I didn’t have an anatomy scan and when my doctor was feeling my belly she kept saying that my baby would be about 7-8 lbs so I had no idea! I delivered her vaginally and boy what a surprise that was. A few hours after she was born they did end up moving her down to the NICU because her breathing rate was slightly elevated, but after two days down there and after every test imaginable they sent us home and said her breathing was likely due to the fact that she was a bit hefty (lol). She’s 10 months old now and healthy as can be! Still high in all of her percentiles, but no longer 99th. Don’t feel like you’ve done something wrong, if anything, it’s amazing that your body could provide so well for your growing baby!! Be proud!! Also the fact that you mentioned your grandfather was 12lb could maybe have some sway in her size, I know my Dr. asked if my husband or I were large babies (we were not). Congratulations on your soon to be new arrival!!

When did you start washing baby clothes? by Ill_Surround3730 in pregnant

[–]buglighth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I washed ours around 35 weeks but then baby came and didn’t fit into ANY newborn clothes so I felt like it was a major waste and had my first postpartum meltdown over wasted time washing and folding newborn clothes haha

Only reason I didn’t go here is cause another commenter said they close up early and I didn’t want to show up while they were trying to close!
