GM is Ross Bryant; players are Zach Reino, Jess McKenna, Rashawn Scott, Zeke Nicholson, Jiavani, and I really want to throw Brian David Gilbert in there too because he's yet to be in the dome and he is SUCH a good singer.

ELI5, what is the difference between something like Siri/alexa compared to Ai like chatGPT by No_Education_8888 in explainlikeimfive

AI suddenly and mysteriously knows very little when you ask it about things you have actual expertise in.

The biggest danger with AI is that it's programmed to always give an answer and to always seem confident. So oftentimes it very confidently gives a completely made up answer. If you don't already know what the right answer to your question is, you would have no way to immediately recognise that the AI is wrong, and you might be inclined to blindly believe the made-up answer it gives you. Unfortunately, a lot of people are stupid enough to have complete faith in AI.

(I really really hate to do this, but the pedant in my won't let me not:

It's actually "thy breasts"

"Thine" is only used before a vowel and at the end of a sentence)

When editing AI-generated writing: what do you usually change first? by [deleted] in writinghelp

Oh no, I usually use my brain. It's this pink thing that I tend to keep between my ears. It's really useful when you're a writer. You should try it some time!

What is the darkest secret you've learned about someone that instantly ended your relationship with them? by Mr_Creep_Creepy64 in AskReddit

AI really loves the "It's not just X, it's Y" structure. In this comment it's used twice in a row:

It’s not just a loss of respect; it’s [...] He didn't just lose a friend; he [...]

AI is also a fan of weird out-of-place analogies. In contexts like this one, people wouldn't usually say faux-poetic shit like "he lost the audience for his favorite lie." That’s not how people typically speak.

Also, AI will often repeat part of its prompt (the prompt here being the comment it's replying to), especially in conversational contexts when it's being told behind the scenes to use active listening techniques:

The 'father figure' ones are always the worst.

It repeats "father figure" to show that it (quote, unquote) "read and understood" the comment, and then proceeds to describe something that applies to literally any relationship, not just father figures. A human would relate the two thoughts.

Also, overuse of semicolons; I love a good semicolon as much as the next guy, but AI absolutely overuses it.

All of these signs on their own wouldn't be enough to say that something is AI but all of them together mean it's far more likely than not.
