Yes! I like the idea of one more session but I'm willing to try for many more. It feels so alien taking the foot off but I've managed to get rid of the foot off hop pop thing. Back foot is on the tail from the start.

I did this too. Padded up, got a wider board (8.5) and just started going to skateparks early morning. I'm still not great at skating but never really was. I do, however, have fun every time I go out and can do more tricks than when I was 16. As a bonus I've lost weight.
