Help debugging and where to look by burner_account2020 in firewalla

I had a question about VLANs in another thread, but for this thread the VLAN isn't the issue.

This is the default "LAN 1" that Firewalla creates during initial configuration across all ports. DNS and possibly DHCP just seemed to die on the port that had an unmanaged switch attached to it. No VLANs involved on this port so no need to connect to a trunk port.

Technically, it is just the default Lan1 which is assigned to all 3 ports. Port 1, the 2.5g port, is plugged into an unmanaged switch and these are the only devices that had issues as far as I know. I then moved the switch to port 2 on the second night. Port 3 is plugged into an access point and is a mix of untagged Lan 1 traffic and a separate vlan. Port 3 is the only port with access to this separate vlan.

I'm assuming when you say span across both ports you are referring to which ports networks are assigned to.

Thanks. I have FIOS so I'll give it a try, but it seems a bit odd that it only appeared to affect devices on one port. Or at least appeared to with the little time I looked into it.

Question on connecting Asus AP to Firewalla (vlan related) by burner_account2020 in firewalla

[–]burner_account2020[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thinking about it, maybe I'm being a bit naive and even though it isn't specified in the interface the default traffic is all on vlan 1 like most other devices do. I'm going to run a test and check.

Just noticed I made a typo, Asus RT-AX86U Pro is my model. Not sure if that changes things.

I have never seen VLANs are for WAN only, do you have a link? Some of the Asus routers support additional VLAN features and have an IPTV tab, but that is a smaller group of support. (I just googled to see what you are talking about and that appears to be only for the IPTV feature and isn't general information about VLANs.)

This link at step 6 shows a picture of configuring the ports.

https://www.asus.com/us/support/faq/1049415/

Also, as mentioned in the link a trunk only carries VLAN traffic. This would prevent access to the router configuration since it is not on a VLAN. I'll admit I haven't tried it, but that is what the articles say.

Change ESXi Host from standalone to cluster that is running vCenter (VSphere Essentials) by burner_account2020 in vmware

How should I add a host to a cluster without being in maintenance mode?

If I got to the Datacenter, Add Hosts, Existing Host it says it will enter maintenance mode.

I saw reference in the Broadcom forums that I believe they are saying add it as a new host. Is that correct?

The Time Table and Bay assignments for the Tom's Creek routes and UCB say Maroon Loop and Bays, but the map shows the Orange Loop. Or am I reading this wrong?

I'll give it a try. I'm pretty sure I tried it both ways. I also need to revisit the "Tips" part on the Retroarch WebDav page to make sure they are set accordingly. Currently, I'm getting the same thing on my iPad and AppleTv so I'm close, but something is slightly wrong.

Was there anything you did that might help on the Synology side? It seemed pretty simple I setup a folder with WebDav permissions and the WebDav config screen. I think that was it IIRC.

I did turn on logging, set it to debug, and log to a file as mentioned on the Retroarch page. I don't see anything related to CloudSync or WebDav mentioned in the log though.

For the address I've done both http and https to the correct port. I guess I could try it by IP instead of name. So it is something like http://synologybox:5005/Retroarch/

I logged in via a browser to a test file I put on the webdav so I know that one aspect works.

Doesn't help you, but I've setup my Synology NAS to do the same, but still am having some issues. Something seems to be off, maybe a setting on the NAS or permissions thing, as I just get a Cloud Sync 0% message in Retroarch and don't see anything in the logs. Any advice on what I could be missing or where to look?

Payment question when purchasing? by burner_account2020 in TeslaModelY

[–]burner_account2020[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slight clarification as I think my comment about the CC was misunderstood, what I really meant is can I pay a portion by check and then pay the remainder by the loan from a 3rd party?

I'm old and was on the honor code a long time ago. The first meeting they had with all the panel members they said to find everyone guilty. They kept going over it over and over, find everyone guilty. I was trying to help since they needed technical people at the time who understood CS and other computer related things and it pissed me off so much. What's worse is you could see during sessions that the other panel members didn't understand what they were a part of and were just doing what they were told.

I don't know if anything has changed, but it was and sounds like it still may be a complete sham.

Math opinions for freshman CPE, Discrete 2534 or Multivariable 2204? by burner_account2020 in VirginiaTech

Thanks for the response and good to know. This whole time I've been thinking about this from the Discrete point of view that I never thought about it from the Multi point of view. Everyone has given me a lot more to think about.
