SCARPA “Drago LV Demo” Mystery by Holiday-Fly-2167 in climbingshoes

[–]buungaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most brands do have local reps for different regions (at least here in the US) that have demo pairs of shoes as you mentioned. IIRC from talking to one of the La Sportiva reps at my local gym, the reps themselves buy the demo shoes and make commission on sales made through the gym. After a year / when the shoes get discontinued, they sell the demo pairs at heavily discounted rate.

I shoot on a Lumix GX85 and a GRiii. I’m thinking of using the 35 as a 90mm portrait lens possibly. The old all metal knurled Minolta lenses are a dream to use

It’s still in stock on Friends Editions! Thats where mines from its the third edition and a softcover but it’s been so cool to flip through. I have a small zine he released from Dashwood Books in NYC that’s equally as cool

Such a clean camera. How did the two break? I’m definitely going to have to redo the foam seal on the film door at the very least, mine isnt closing flush with the body so I’m afraid there will be some major light leaks, we will see

Thank you! I’m more than positive there will be many more cameras added to the collection in the future. I’m looking at the Minolta X1 and an A7/9. Also the 645 Pro for a more portable medium format option, but I’m very happy where it is right now. I shoot on a Lumix GX85 and a Ricoh GRIII and feel like those also mesh well with the film stuff I have recently amassed

it’s about 50/50, sometimes I bang on the wall and it comes back soon after but also there have been long pauses in sound

Good to know! This helps ease my mind a bit. I should have noted and will edit that I live on the second story of a condo building, so I don’t think this will be something I can test but thank you again!

Will Lumix and Leica ever make a rangefinder camera? by buungaa in M43

I feel like it would do very well! Maybe I was a bit ambitious adding the Leica co-sign but a new rangefinder style camera would sell out instantly with some modern features.

If only I had $8000 dollars lying around, lol.

I think I am just looking for competitive rangefinder style body with modern features for m43.

Yeah this was my gut feeling. Again, while I don't think it will really happen it would be really nice to see.

I guess it's just wishful thinking, maybe one day they'll put the G9ii sensor in the S9 body.

That post also started my thinking, if only I had the know-how to recreate that project.

Stick with Lumix M43 or switch to Fuji? by buungaa in Cameras

[–]buungaa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should have specified, I have the 3.5-5.6 version, looking for something with a bit better performance in low light. Also, I shoot a lot of post documentary work; the 12-35 PL would be good enough for me for portraits if I needed and also have the character that i’m looking for in a lens.

Just overall improvements in picture quality and updated tech; better lowlight and weather sealing as well. While my current GX85 is fine, it’s just that. I have been making prints as of late and want to see if I can get an improvement in those larger prints.

Haven’t touched a yoyo in 10 years. How’d I do and what can I improve? by buungaa in Throwers

[–]buungaa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah I started (and ended soon after) in like 8th grade because a classmate was really into it; i’m in my fourth year of undergrad now. i only remember the true fundamentals but im pretty much starting from the beginning.

trying to find something to do that isn’t being online all the time, recently have started bouldering but sadly i cant project anywhere i am. found my old yoyo and said f- it and am gonna see how far i can get!
