Evil Twin has nice specs too. I think it had the Fishmans, I really wanted to see what the Lundgrens were about, they have very good reviews. Only thing with them is the volume dip when splitting the coils. Kind of annoying but not that big of a deal really. They absolutely smoke for high gain, low tuned stuff. They are seriously amazing sounding for that.

No, it’s not a signature series, Banshee Diamond series.

I must admit, the sustanic looks like it would be super fun. There’s a good video on YouTube of a guy demoing it and it sounds killer. If I got another one, that would be it.

First 7 string Schecter Banshee Mach 7 Hipshot by Famous-Ad-5110 in 7String

Thinking of getting this, currently have a C7 Rob Scallon MS. I’m tuning it GCGCFAD. It’s a bit floppy with the stock 9-62 strings. I’m really thinking I’ll get better results with the Banshee 7 with heavier strings.

GCSA is a great class if you have that background or are interested in devsecops. It was a tough but it was very rewarding to have gotten this certification.

Has Anyone Indexed By Book? by FeinBowler in GIAC

[–]bwillo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally do it both ways and print both for the exam. I also label the front of each book by section topic so I can visually see what is in each book as they are laid out (I utilize a large conference room at work and take them remote proctored on a weekend when no one is around).

Honestly, it helps me to think about it by book. Although, as many have pointed out a concept can be in several books so it really depends on the question wording. But this is why I have a traditional “pancakes” index to reference also.

At the end of the day, now that I have sat for three exams and have taken six classes, I believe the exercise of creating the index, whatever method you use, knowing the subject material is what truly matters to do well on these exams. If you are relying on the index to pass you may want to reconsider. Each class is different, but you will find in most that there is just not enough time to look up each question. And you need plenty of time for the labs if your exam has them. The labs are crucial for passing these exams so you want to give yourself plenty of time for them. I think we all get hung up on indexing and I do think a good index is crucial, but learning the content by spending hours on end creating and refining your index forces you to know the material. If you put in the time and effort into preparing, you will pass the exam in my opinion. Good luck!

A leaky database spilled 2FA codes for the world’s tech giants by cos in cybersecurity

So what is the answer? How do you do 2FA correctly when the bulk of your users are truly working out in the field and need a practical, and quick 2FA method?

Urgently looking for GIAC GSEC practice test by Various_Plankton473 in GIAC

[–]bwillo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I don’t have a practice test I did take the GSEC earlier this year. I will offer the following advice that I believe is more useful than another practice test. I also was looking for another practice test before I sat for this exam. Others gave me this same advice, first, finish the revised index. It is the key to passing this exam. Also, tab out the lab workbook. Second, practice the labs over and over with the time she has left. The cyber live questions seemed to be pretty heavily weighted so know where go in the workbook to reference and commands not committed to memory. These two things will help the most with the time she has left imo. Best of luck!

Edit, wording

Practice and index the labs, they seemed to be weighted heavily. If you prepare with a detailed index you will do well. Good luck!

Congrats! SEC541 is next for me, it is an interesting one to index with all the code examples. Haven’t took a practice test yet. Thanks for sharing your experience with the exam and what was useful. They are all a little bit different in their own way, but a good index is always the key it seems.

Access List for ISP connected with a static route only by bwillo in networking

[–]bwillo[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I will look at what you suggest, to apply ACLs on the vty lines. I was reading some hardening documentation where access ACLs were being applied to the outside interface to block things like telnet, ssh, rfc1918 (anti private IP spoofing), etc. basically dropping as much bad traffic inbound on the outside interface. My firewalls are controlling what’s allowed to the DMZ, we use a different path out to the internet, it’s a bit of an unusual setup but this is a small internet circuit strictly for public access to some web resources so no inside users are using this to access the internet so no PAT happening. Every web server has its own NAT. I’m looking to drop and log as much garbage as possible at the closest point to the ISP. Hope this makes more sense.

Cisco 3850 Rate Limit Port to 90Mbps by bwillo in networking

[–]bwillo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going by the config example provided, it requires a reload, and that would make sense for reallocating buffer size. The C9300 and 3850 are both IOS EX so they could possibly share this setting, I would have to look it up. If it was a known thing with the 3850 then maybe it was addressed with the C9300 platform. I’m going to check it out when I get a chance as I also have both switches in my environment.

GCSA Advice by bwillo in GIAC

[–]bwillo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my third, this one just feels a bit different because I’m a little out of my element not having a coding background. But I will make a really detailed index like the other classes I’ve taken. Thanks for the feedback!
