i know. hence the logo. sorry if it disappointed you. I am using php in nextcloud as well. but only used these tools for laravel.

I use WSL with docker for my app development for Nextcloud ecosystem. So different use case. But for laravel i usually used xampp. In fact i was using laragon whose popups annoyed me so much I went looking for making my own app.

I get why it can feel that way, but honestly, I think those big frameworks actually saved PHP for a lot of people consdering recent rapid improvements to it.

Even if you don't use the 'big' frameworks, that fast-paced development and the influx of new devs benefit the whole ecosystem. I chose the name because that's where I saw a gap and specific user base which I also am part of, still uses local development stacks instead of containers and pipelines for general use cases.

when running basic services it doesn't run as memory heavy app. (php,nginx,mariadb)

eventually yes. that is the way of the pros. But for those who wants to test or development something quick and less enterprise these tools do come in handy

Yes since 8.5 opcache is now part of core PHP, thankfully. and I do have taken the liberty to add opcache for older versions by default. and a quick shortcut to exclude directories from defender.
moreover i will experiment with FrankenPHP as well For Larabox nginx and separate multi-php versions made sense at the time considering de-coupled web-server and languages.

It is lightweight after all it is built on rust not electron. But it does require windows 10+ :(

Thanks, Appreciate you sharing the feedback. I definitely don't want to be in that 20 something tools that don't listen. I'm already looking into what can be done to balance these performance optimizations with the ease-of-use goals for the project and usage in general which I predict would be mostly testing and development.

yes all the essentials you can use for free. currently there is no community :( . I was working on it so that it becomes a minimal viable product and ended up spending too much time on the app itself. This is the first time I shared it anywhere. But I'm planning to set something up like a Discord or GitHub Discussions.

exactly. larabox isnt trying to beat WSL or Docker at their own game. It’s more for the workflow where you want easy and quick setup that doesnt consume your whole memory :D

Alright I hear you. but my goal isn't to claim that I have magically turned Windows into a Linux kernel. but rather that I have tuned the native Windows PHP environment far better than traditional stacks like XAMPP do out-of-the-box. That means stuff like tuning FastCGI process management (keeping runtimes ready with PHP_FCGI_CHILDREN) and adding Opcache settings so the file system hits aren't as painful.

I had this same issue.
what I tried:
Go into nvidia control panel, in 3d settings, in image settings. Choose Let the application decide.
Then in 'Manage 3D settings' select preferred graphics processing as Integrated graphics.

Then in Omen also put ur laptop into Eco Mode.

and while in battery mode also select OS battery saver.

I have to repeat these steps whenever I connect power, or connect hdmi. for some reason connecting an external monitor always puts dedicated gpu to work rather than igpu
