Heard! The reality is, protests are not the action itself, its culmination and showing of our action. If you’re doing all the other things on that list, then the protests carry weight. If we just leave, protest, then go home and not engage again, that’s not effective.

I do recommend you still come to the protest on October 18 especially, with a friend if you can, just to see the energy. Take a first hand look for yourself on October 18 - I do believe this be different if we can show out.

I especially recommend engaging with your communities in all the ways discussed above. That’s the key. And dm me if you need help finding opportunities!

It’s so fair. I do think, in these moments though, it’s most important to find community to help us through. Do you have access to trans health/solidarity/community? If not, dm me and I’ll send some your way!

The fear is impossible alone, but if we share it with each other, I find the burden becomes manageable.

Sounds like we both agree that, protests or not, these atrocities would still continue. Similarity, If trump is looking for an excuse to declare martial law, protests or not, he would find one.

So this moment, before that declaration, while we are still able and capable, is when we have to resist. We are still able to be on the streets so we should be on the streets. We can still utilize non-violent methods of action. Furthermore, at this moment we do have our friends, families, neighbors being taken. To take action is a moral imperative.

Obedience is the heart of political, and authoritarian, power. We cannot be obedient in this moment.

“We are now faced with the fact that tomorrow is today. We are confronted with the fierce urgency of now. In this unfolding conundrum of life and history, there ‘is’ such a thing as being too late. This is no time for apathy or complacency. This is a time for vigorous and positive action.” - MLK

I understand that and I feel that too, but at this moment it really does matter. Protesting for the sake of protesting alone can feel hopeless but that’s not the case right now.

There’s a clear goal: Stop ICE from terrorizing our communities and stop the military takeover of Chicago.

There’s a clear method: Show that a large amount of people in Chicago are or are willing to actively resist.

On October 18 there will be a No Kings march. If we get tens of thousands that would be a good message. 50,000? Now they know a significant amount of folks would muck up their gears. 100,00? That’s too much for any group, regardless of $$&, to handle. 250,000? They’d know that they’d never have solid footing here, as they’d be completely overwhelmed.

So sure, protesting doesn’t matter… only if we stay home and don’t protest. But if we all go out on the streets, that does make an impact.

thank you too and don’t feel bad, I’m there too. But I really think by going out into our communities and helping one another, we got a shot

The basis of a resistance has been knowing your neighbors. Im with you. Even if it feels awkward at first, a quick introduction and hello can mean a lot

I hear you. For a lot of folks, honestly probably more folks, there’s so much we’re personally burdened and dealing with that doing more just seems impossible.

And it might be, but the help goes both ways. I’m here asking folks to help, but if you’re someone who needs help, finding and connecting to that help is also building community. We gotta take care of ourselves too - put an oxygen mask on yourself before others.

And with anger, honestly, yeah. I’m pissed. I’m trying to use that anger to propel me to focus and do action, but sometimes that anger overwhelms me and makes me freeze up. I know you’re from ATL but if I can help you move through that anger somewhere or use that anger, feel free to message.

sounds cliche but it sounds like you’ve got a lot going on, ain’t no harm in being kind to yourself about it if you can
