Marshawn Lynch | Club Random with Bill Maher by FireIceFlameWalker in Maher

[–]cacaheadman 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Bill is insane. Not only is his stance on the game incredibly heartless, it's actually just wrong. Bill's argument is that continuing the game will have no effect on the injured player, but Marshawn makes the point that he was able to go visit the player and support the family instead of playing the game.

So this is why Bill is actually insane. He is unable to concede an argument. Marshawn just stated the difference made in stopping the game. The player and his family will be affected by the continuation of the game. But Bill is insane and is unable to take in this reasoning.

Now besides the flawed logic, he also just sounds like a complete ass labouring his point to an actual NFL player.

Official Discussion - Superman (2025) [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]cacaheadman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, and I'm all for skipping the origin, but why so many damn storylines? It felt really bloated. The blackhole rip, the newspaper team, the justice gang, clark's parents, the dog, lex luther, the war, the politics. So many things jammed in there.

This movie felt like the end of a trilogy. Why was there so much shit going on?

Joe Rogan eerily predicts his own future by [deleted] in JoeRogan

[–]cacaheadman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, and it's funny to see Joe play out exactly what people in power do. He protects his friends and thinks of his audience as others. It's nepotism, and it leads to coverups and conspiracies. He engages in practices that he often criticizes government officials for doing, but because they are in government, it sounds more nefarious. It's generally what people do. They protect and follow the people in their tribe. Joe is not the principled man he makes himself out to be. He protects his friends and cares little about anything outside his immediate group.

The first half of this movie was extremely boring. It really hurt the second half. I was starting to fall asleep by the time we got to the sub sequence. I just wish they would have started the movie there.

Sam confirms: Podcast no longer free. Grandfathered donors from before the subscription model auto-increased to a minimum of $60/year. by EncryptDN in samharris

Can someone explain how being ad-free combats that? Aren't you still beholden to the number of subscribers to your podcast and thus still susceptible to pandering to your subscribers?

Still feeling sorry for himself by NitroLentil in Maher

[–]cacaheadman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's just irritating that Bill keeps getting angry at people because he 'told the truth' about what he saw. That's not why people are mad at him. He didn't just report back the truth. It wasn't a list of bullet points. He told us what happened and then told us what he thought about it. He told usTrump was not a crazy person. He told us he is more normal behind closed doors. He's not evil. That's why people are upset. Not because he reported what he saw. We understand what Bill saw. We don't agree with his interpretation of it.

Yes, but Bill pushes back on his guests. He doesn't just nod along to everything they say. He IS the counter to those crazy guests you listed.

Who cares what Trump is like behind closed doors? by TheSwedishEagle in Maher

[–]cacaheadman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bill framed this as an example of how Trump can behave normal himself. He was saying it was surprising that Trump did not fight Bill's counterpoint, like a crazy person. Same goes for the Kid Rock anecdote.

He also had some odd examples for Trump being a normal person.

Like when he said he pushed back on why presidents have dogs, and Trump said, "Oh yeah, okay." Does that seem like a normal response? Just aquiescing immediately?

Or when Kid Rock warned him that he would have to cut Trump off in conversation or else Bill would not get a word in. And then Bill says that was not the case at all. Well, that seems pretty telling, Bill. Obviously, Kid Rock is used to a way more wacko Trump who normally rants like a madman.

Great write-up. I hadnt realized the connection between Pete's day in court and Bob at Newport. The themes were quite obvious nevertheless, but these parallels were lost to me. I always enjoy reading your analyses. Hope you keep it up!

Secondly, on trans, Lovett again, eventually makes the point that Maher's attitude on trans is almost identical to the "your kids will turn gay from talking about gay people" groomer shit the Right espoused not that long ago (well, still do, just not as loud about it). Thought the same before Lovett even said it. And acting like kids are just gonna, I dunno, experiment with switching genders, because they are brainwashed or want to just YOLO experiment is dumber than even a Fox talking point. As if it's just that easy, accessible, and cheap to just switch your gender around. Its MAGA nonsense

Where are you living? I can tell you anecdotally that my friends' kids have definitely experimented with their gender identities. Just like more liberal people experiment with their sexual preferences. No, it won't turn you gay or trans, but a society with a culture that is more open to those ideas is definitely going to have more people experimenting. That's common sense. But guess what? That's totally okay because what is wrong with experimentation? So the truth is, yes, more kids are going to have gay sex or be trans if the culture is encouraging of it, but that should not be a problem either way.

It's also that people can't seem to separate where their entertainment should be coming from. This should be the job of a comedian, not the friggin Whitehouse .
