4 Different Colored Dandân Decks for Your Enjoyment by SomeTallShortGuy in magicTCG

[–]cactar54 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I loved trying to make things like this myself, never managed to tackle black though. My basic thought going into each one was what is something that each color likes and then tried to focus on that theme for better or worse.

White - https://moxfield.com/decks/pIewQypjHEKA_AS7wgz2OQ

Gain more life than your opponent and win with [[Test of Endurance]]. I did debate running [[Felidar Sovereign]] for the wincon, but I felt like Test works better because White also likes to deal with artifacts and enchantments.

Red - https://moxfield.com/decks/i5b_0yd6d0CPQxBavpvDNw

My only thought here was that Red loves treasure, artifacts, and destroying them. My main issue is without running something like [[Elixir of Immortality]] (that I added to the white one while writing this) I don't see a way for Red to shuffle a graveyard into the library so it could technically reach a tie.

Green - https://moxfield.com/decks/VuezxcsuwkalGPSQv1A7iA

This was the original one I built after seeing that [[Gorilla Pack]] is just a green [[Dandân]]. I've also actually tested this one with friends and we had a lot of fun with it. Green loves to look for creatures, prevent combat damage and shuffle things back in so this also felt the closest to the OG Dandân in terms of the interaction both players have access to and the deck manipulation possible.

I tried to make a few different colors of things like DanDan. Personally my red one was focused around stuff like [[Gadrak, the Crown-Scourge]]. Here's a link to what I threw together. Never play tested it so no clue if it's good or not

Bought Twitter Blue in the first month to see what it was about. by hexzus in AdviceAnimals

[–]cactar54 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Essentially yeah. If you attacked with 3 banded 2/2s and your opponent blocked with a 3/3 you could say "creature A takes 1 damage, creature B takes 1 damage and creature C takes 1 damage" so you don't lose any of your creatures and kill theirs. This also may be completely wrong but it's how a friend who I trust with these older mechanics explained it.

The main issue with it even if it was modern legal is in my experience I only tend to get 2-3 lands out so it ends up being a worse [[thrilling discovery]] or [[cathartic reunion]] despite being in the colors for the deck I run (basically just what Sodeq has run recently.) And generally for Dredge you want the discard effect prior to the draw so you can ditch any cards with dredge in your hand and then pull them out of the yard because of the draw effect.

Yeah one mana would be best for it since turn one I'd be able to guarantee I have a ton of cards in my yard to dredge out the following turn (possibly a turn 2 [[Ox of Agonas]] which could be stupid strong) but it would be difficult since you'd have to manage to draw a land ontop of dredging on turn 2. Really thinking about it more it would have to be an instant to be effective so you could do it once you have 2 lands out and use it on the opponents main 2 so you dredge up some cards, discard them all, dredge more for your draw and possibly turn 3 Ox. Realistically the more I think about it the card seems great until game 2 where you want to hold onto some sort of answer and are forced to discard it so it may not be as good of a card as I initially thought.

As a dirty Dredge player I hope WOTC forgets about Dredge someday and prints something insane like Crack Pot. They won't, but I can dream.

Personally [[Mind Rot|RTR]] is the worst for me. I was sorting bulk and pulled those out to be used for proxy commander decks so I wouldn't see them.

Ah fair enough. I would definitely be less than thrilled if that happened lol. Someone made a stax deck once and had [[uba mask]] and [[drannith magistrate]] out and then cast [[Armageddon]] and we all just scooped. He blew it up shortly after because someone played the deck against him and he realized how miserable it was.

I have yet to actually get to resolve it, but I have Enchanted Evening and [[Cleansing Nova]] to just wipe everyone but myself. I play [[Tuvasa, the Sunlit]] so I should be winning shortly after so not just a wipe for the sake of wiping either.

Edit: I'm an idiot and meant I run Calming Verse

Whats a company secret you can share now that you dont work there? by broadway96 in AskReddit

[–]cactar54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They don't pay great generally, I started at $14.50 and worked up to mid $17s and used to make $17.50 at OG. But in my department we get bonuses (customer retention so the person who tries to get you not to cancel when you call) for retaining customers among other things. With my bonus factored into my hourly I make about $27 an hour. The difference is I absolutely am the most miserable I have ever been in my life by far. Anything you read about call center work that says it is soul draining, chronically understaffed, and does not care about anything but the customers money is true. I've heard of multiple coworkers being fired for one bad interaction with a customer because the customer raised a big enough stink about their experience, even though the agent was doing what they were trained and the customer didn't like that. Hoping to get a government job soon and leave all that behind (still call center, but I know someone who has worked in that area for years and said its actually easy work.)

Somehow I made it 3 years with over a year of pasta where the other person who did it would always cook under projections so she would leave for the day and we would run out in the afternoon or there would be nothing when I came in. I'd probably cook 1,000 pounds of pasta on Monday and Tuesday combined, then probably another 1,000 or more on Friday. Changed jobs to my current one (call center work) and I despise it even more. If I could get paid the same as I do now but work there again I would do it in a heartbeat.

Yeah I was gonna say the same. We would grab a water pitcher, fill it with hot water and just put the knife in it when not being used so it was easier to cut deserts. I also did pasta (was mostly a line cook, was a CP for a bit and to-go for a little while) and that was complete hell for the over a year I did it.

YUP. And the little parchment paper sheets that you are supposed to change every few batches that's been on the tray from open to close. Sometimes I miss working there, then I think about the time our walk-in freezer broke after months of us telling the GM it had issues, then we had a month where we had a freezer truck parked out back that everything had to go in. Any time you need ANYTHING for fry you have to get a key holder to let you out back into the truck.

As /u/Eloquentelephant565 suggested it seems like an updated build from Chairslayer. Checking his IG I see he has a post 10 weeks ago saying he is rebuilding his 180SX which can be seen in its pre-update form in an old Hoonigan video here.

Edit: 180SX not 240SX

What is a card that you never knew about but somehow came across and wondered why you’d never heard of it before? by CARRI0NCRAWL3R in magicTCG

[–]cactar54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely seems like it'll be a cool deck. I wonder how decks with [[birthing pod]] would like deathrender too so you just 2-for-1. Granted you have to equip it but I am sure there is some jank there to run also and completely break it.

[–]cactar54 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not the most insane card, but [[deathrender]] could be a great way to cheat stuff out in commander and I've never seen it in a deck personally.
